I want to know where the 2027 Plan and the 2029 Plan are so that Democrats can maximize every single governing minute. There is a lot to do and they have to fix so much broken stuff that it is almost inconceivable. If Rs can publish a plan and implement 90% of it, Democrats could, too.

Not a historian, but it seems to me: The world agreed to US hegemony in aftermath of WWII to 1) keep trade fair and open, 2) keep energy flowing smoothly via standardized pricing and security, 3) fair institutions to maintain the peace, including the US military. Since we now understand that Big Oil and Putin support the reactionary right in the US, I am glad that China has been using renewables to undermine the lynchpin of US international power: oil. Without a reckless idiot making petro-risks obvious, the green transition would have taken longer.

Research shows diverse boards think and act more clearly and effectively. Take that a step further and we now understand that lack of a variety of viewpoints is really harmful (see cults, Fox addicts, online bubbles, etc.) in addition to the folks in power who need to listen to other points of view.

We have now graduated to the "Biblically sanctioned" phase of explaining our attack on Iran. Who knew that a modern Crusade could happen against the Pope's wishes? I guess the "Pope Trump" now determines the sanctity of these things.

Trump is practically begging China to take Taiwan since we are now tied up in Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Iran, and who knows where else tomorrow. I expect more chaos induced by the chaos he is creating.

If Georgia Republicans want to maintain their credibility as independent of the Trump Republicans, they have to prevent these concentration camps from opening. They can't say they didn't know and they have worked very hard to date in maintaining their independence.

Desperately waiting for the Georgia ones to be canceled, but not holding my breath. The existing facilities here are incarcerating some of the largest numbers of detainees in the US. Can we also make private prison companies illegal?

Had the corrupt Supreme Court not intervened on the side of Bush II, letting the votes in Florida be counted, Al Gore would have been president and everything afterwards would have been less bizzaro-world. Their appointment as a continuing cover-up conspiracy/reward are obvious.

This is an excellent way of engaging university students (and possibly for adaptation to other venues) about the practical and theoretical uses and abuses of AI. Now I want to design a class to do this, and I am not a professor anymore!

Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out. As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class. Here's what happened:

1-8 We're getting very close to what Anders describes. Normal, civilised US citizens need to understand it's their system that is sick, not just one man. In pretty much every other democracy I can think of, doing a January 6 number would have meant imprisonment and being barred from public office.

The more I think about this, the angrier I get. It takes a particularly virulent strain of sociopathy to sit and let hard-working people serve you a meal knowing that you plan to arrest them and send them off for deportation once they're off of work. Really depraved shit.

A few days ago, Fox News was whining about ICE agents getting heckled at a Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis. Meanwhile, in the town of Willmar, ICE agents had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, waited until it closed, then confronted and arrested three workers as they left.

The truth is simple: ICE can’t be reformed. It has to be canceled and replaced with an immigration system rooted in civil rights, real oversight, and the Constitution. Anything less is enabling abuse with our tax dollars in our name.
