Mississippi Dems are in it to win it! Check your ballot status through https://votefromabroad.org (ballots can still be cured for most issues). If your ballot hasn't arrived yet, let us know! #votefromabroad #Vote #Elections #Mississippi

A graphic with a dark blue background. The shape of the State of Mississippi is at the upper right and a ballot box with a hand interting a ballot are at the bottom with a red and white striped folded design behind it. The text says " Attention Mississippi voters! Make sure your vote counts! Check your ballot status online now! VoteFromAbroad.org."

I know it won't be confirmed for days, possibly even weeks, but I still can't stop thinking about the count in Mississippi. One of my favourite photos I've ever taken was in Mississippi.

A hot afternoon in Clarksdale, Mississippi. We are looking across an empty street towards a faded but smart little pink terraced house which used to be part of a row, lining the street. It's the only one left, now, and all the previous spaces of the surrounding buildings have been given over to asphalt parking lots. But even the parking lots are empty, now. A woman strolls past the house, her and a couple of trees the only signs of life in this apparently deserted place.

Some #BlueWave shots from the archive…

A wave is breaking. In the distance is a rocky island with a small lighthouse on it.

A wave is breaking, spray everywhere, in the shallow blue sea

Gently rippling waves on a still blue sea

Waves crash onto the beach, spray blowing on the wind, bright white against the dark blue sea.

For no particular reason, a throw back to this 2012 post on the Ghostsigns blog: https://ghostsigns.co.uk/2012/07/vote-against-prohibition-ghostsign-in-baltimore/ Photo: Samuel Adam Johnson #Ghostsigns #Prohibition #Vote #Baltimore

View of a portion of a brick wall that has a very faded hand-painted sign on it that reads "Vote Against Prohibition" with each word set on its own line and the block letters sized at about ten bricks tall.

More! Pineapple! Action! ...Honestly it's just such a delightfully bonkers thing to exist. Utterly lacking in class or restraint and yet expertly crafted and rather gorgeous, all the same. Always such fun to stop by for a look. 🍍 Read about it! […] [Original post on mastodon.scot]

A very formal stone building with a small central turret that looks like a pineapple. A large lawn is in front of it, and some silhouetted people and a dog are walking towards the structure.

A close-up shot of some of the delicate stonework that forms a building which looks like a pineapple. The carving of the leaves is really intricate.

A very formal stone turret which houses a single room and, as it rises above the windows, gradually takes the form of a pineapple.

Rising above the surrounding tree canopies and hazy in the late afternoon october sun, we can clearly make out a large, stone, pineapple.

#nowPlaying #thePlaylist with @DJDarren It’s all about the Openers this week, and that Mansun track was a banger. I love Mansun, and a lot of their remixes were proper top-drawer stuff. https://djdarren.site/archive/podcast/theplaylist-128-openers/

All hail the Zeptoverse! LHCb-CERN has detected a beauty quark (existing for <1.5 trillionths of a sec) interacting with other particles at a scale of a billion-trillionth of a metre😵‍💫🥳. Typical that this breakthrough moment is when the UKGov pulls its funding. 🤦‍♀️ ⚛️🧪 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Back to Seton Sands for today's #AmperSand. Its a great spot for shells, and I think today's were all once home to scallops. Is that right? Any marine biologists able to educate me? As ever, more in the archive: https://www.flickr.com/photos/davemorris/albums/72177720312825189/

Nothing like following your kids around while they’re trick-or-treating / guising to make you really sick of the standard Ring doorbell tone.

#Caturday #Autumn #Fall

A sort of mottled grey and white young cat pauses and turns to check behind her while strolling past a red and orange maple bush.

A grey cat sits in front of a maple bush on a garden path looking up, possibly slightly surprised by something behind us. Possibly by us. The maple leaves are turning to autumn colours of red and gold.

First time using a drill to create my pumpkin design. Super-easy it is, too!

A carved pumpkin, glowing on a shelf at dusk. The carving is done with a series of different-sized circular holes (a drill has clearly been used) all filling in the form of an ampersand. The blue ambient light of dusk contrasts with the warm internal glow of the pumpkin.

Following queries about my #AmperSand efforts, I've finally got around to writing about some of my thoughts on the subject. 👩‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family history! 🌊 Coastlines! 🧠 Very shallow philosophical musings! 📷 Lots of ampersands! https://daveybot.wordpress.com/2026/10/25/on-ampersands/

A tiled grid of photographs showing various ampersands created on different shorelines. Shells, stones, sand, rock... sometimes there are feet, shadows, people passing by.

People who don’t accept election results (without evidence to show wrongdoing) shouldn’t be allowed to stand in subsequent ones. This seems like a fairly reasonable thing to suggest in a democracy, doesn’t it? You know, Trump, Bolsonaro etc. It should never not be shocking to hear the […]

Buzzard on my garden gate post this morning.

A view through my front window of a heavy gate post, with a wooden farm gate. On top of the gate post a buzzard sits, apparently quite relaxed. Behind are green fields.

Struggling to decide which of these #AmperSand shots I prefer. The direct sunlight gives much more contrast and pop to it all, and the shadows help to illustrate the depth of the shell fragments and the texture of it all. That was what I'd been hoping for, as […] [Original post on mastodon.scot]

An ampersand formed by arranging broken shell fragments on a sandy beach. It's photographed in direct sunshine, so shadows are cast through and around the ampersand, revealing the depth of the shell fragments and increasing the contrast.

An ampersand formed by arranging broken shell fragments on a sandy beach. It's photographed in fairly flat light, so everything is very evenly illuminated, with no strong contrast.

There are concrete cubes dotted all over the east coast, built as anti-tank defences in World War II. I think they're rather beautiful, these oddly geometrical arrivals from a brutalist/minecraft universe, scattered across all sorts of natural landscapes […] [Original post on mastodon.scot]

A row of concrete cubes marches across a hillside of long wild grass. The grass is reflecting late afternoon sunlight, and a parent and two kids are playing on a few of the cubes in the distance.

An array of weathered concrete cubes sits among a hillside of long wild grass. There's a kid, sat swinging their legs over the edges of one of them.

A teenager stands atop a weathered concrete cube, one of many arrayed on a grassy hillside. There's a wind-blown little tree in the background, and the sky is bright with late afternoon sun.

The photographer seems to have been stood in a bush for this shot, but peering over the leaves which blur the foreground, we then look over a row of weathered concrete cubes (former anti-tank defences) on a grassy hillside. A parent and two kids are sat or stood on a few of them, in the distance, and the late afternoon sun gives a thin glowing edge to their hair, and some of the geometrical edges of the concrete cubes.
