This election season, a new candidate has tossed her ha— her MASK into the ring. Her platform is pretty straightforward. T-shirts, stickers and buttons forthcoming through our Kickstarter (and beyond).

A political poster reads "In Texas November 2026, Vote the Matron for governor. Eat the rich." In the middle is an image of the woman ax murderer and cannibal from THE MATRON comic series, wearing a red-streaked white mask, a hooded burgundy cloak, and a bearded ax. She's standing in front of the Texas flag.

“A new dawn will break over the darkened world, and our mistakes will once again be forgotten.” Nolan's take on the ODYSSEY is ... so much better than I could have ever anticipated. Definitely had me riveted for 3 hours.

Three things: 1. ICE shouldn’t be out here killing people. 2. We’re still waiting for these cowards to tackle gangs instead grandmas, nuns, folks on their way to work, and people on the streets. 3. (Art by Jesse Duquette.)

My personal ranking of the EVIL DEAD franchise, from best to "least good" (as I agree that there isn't a single bad entry in the franchise): EVIL DEAD 2 EVIL DEAD RISE EVIL DEAD (2013) EVIL DEAD BURN ASH VS EVIL DEAD ARMY OF DARKNESS THE EVIL DEAD (1981)

As for my personal ranking of the films, from best to least good (There isn't a single bad film in this series): Evil Dead 2 Evil Dead Burn Evil Dead Rise Army of Darkness Evil Dead (2013) The Evil Dead (original)

Many supposed EVIL DEAD fans are losing their minds over the post-credits scene of EVIL DEAD BURN, whining that it violates lore. Did y'all not watch ASH VS EVIL DEAD? Ash's sister Cheryl returned (in demon form) through a photo (after being reduced to sludge 30 years earlier). Freaking posers.

EVIL DEAD BURN is brutal, mean-spirited, darkly funny, and totally worth watching! CW: beyond horrific gore and violence, if you are from a dysfunctional, abusive family, it's a HARD watch. And stay for a hilarious mid-credits scene and unexpected after-credits scene. Franchise is doing well!

The way language works in my brain vs. many other's brains: an ongoing thread (as I notice). 1st example: To say "next" rather than "this coming," I need to be in the midst of the repeating thing. For example, the winter beginning in December 2026 is "this coming winter," not "next winter." 1/

A truly new voice, like a new cuisine, might not immediately hit your palate like Kraft Mac and Cheese. It might make you uncomfortable. It might not resolve as you hope. It might be abrasive. It might star characters you don't relate to. All these can turn into brilliant writers getting rejected.

I'm working on more stories in my "Toltec Wuxia" cycle. Both Western & Eastern sword & sorcery tropes fit nicely in the chaotic period after Quetzalcoatl's incarnation was forced off the imperial throne by dark mages and went into exile. The 1st, "Whispering Shards," was in a recent anthology. 1/

RE: The Aztec division of the day. In Chapter II of PRIMEROS MEMORIALES (a sort of first draft of the Florentine Codex), we are told of multiple times throughout the daytime and night when priest would light incense, clearly marking divisions of the day. I'm going to walk you through them. 1/

Sticks of incense made the same way from the same materials burn at the same rate. If you're trying to keep these "watches" roughly the same from day to day, it seems to me that burning incense is a solid way to calculate that in lieu of clocks. Think about the size of the Aztec Empire. 10/
