The Tories are taking residents for a ride, to absolutely no one's surprise. Here's my statement on tonight's "public meeting", organised for and by the Tories, dressed up as a public meeting, trying to deflect from the shocking state they left policing in here in Southend and across the country.

From Monday Southend and surrounding areas will be under a water Temporary Use Ban or as it is more commonly known - a Hosepipe Ban! 💧 As you will no doubt be aware we are currently experiencing a drought. Please do all you can to conserve water. 🌞 Rain dance anyone?? 🕺🏾💃💦💦

The Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme recently took me and colleagues to Cyprus to observe, meet members of our armed forces, and see in action just how defence is the primary responsibility of any government.

🤝 With social care in the headlines, I wanted to give a shout out to Carer's First. A great local charity supporting people in Southend caring for a relative or friend. I met with Emma from Carer's First to discuss the amazing work that they do and how we can work together to fix social care.

I am delighted to have been asked to remain in my role as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Department of Health and Social Care. I am looking forward to working with the new Secretary of State Yvette Cooper and her team of Ministers as we drive forward much needed changes and reforms.

🌊🚽 Last week, I was really excited when I came back to my Parliamentary office. Why? Because I'd secured a date to debate my 10 Minute Rule Bill, which is all about changing the law around how wet wipes are labelled as "flushable" when they're anything but. Take a look at my reaction here 🚽🌊

🐶🐾 If you're a pet owner like me, you'll know just how much of a treasured part of a family a pet is. I believe that owners deserve clarity about the cost of pet care and that veterinary nurses who do such an important job deserve legal recognition.
