I finally saw PROJECT HAIL MARY last night. Thoroughly entertaining, well paced, great cinematography, and a tremendous job on the part of Ryan Gosling holding the whole thing together alone on screen for 80% of the movie. (1/3) #ProjectHailMary

Pixar’s latest, #HOPPERS, is bananas. It’s incredibly funny, it’s got a manic pace, and you never quite know where it’s going to go next. I really knew very little about the film going in, but I think it would have been even better if I had known absolutely nothing. (1/2)
After the blatant murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by government agents — both captured by multiple cameras and both immediately lied about by the administration — the time for dialogue with these people is over. (1/7)
Here are photos of Virginia’s new Democratic governor, including one where she poses with all of the former living Virginia governors except one. Both Democrats and Republicans, standing side by side peacefully transferring power. (1/4) #Virginia #AbigailSpanberger
You can tell how darn wonderful I am by the number of morons I refrain from strangling on a daily basis. Today’s tally (so far) is three.
We should start calling him Orangeymandias.
Consistency like Rian Johnson’s in his KNIVES OUT films is hard to to come by. I’m having a hard time thinking of any trilogy where all three films are legitimately as good as each other. But with WAKE UP DEAD MAN, Johnson’s done it. (1/6) #WakeUpDeadMan #KnivesOut #RianJohnson
The first time I’ve taken a deep breath in months. Congratulations to Virginia, New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, and everywhere else that Democrats surged yesterday. (One of those #Spanberger votes in VA was mine!) Hell, Democrats flipped two state Senate seats in frickin’ MISSISSIPPI.
Jimmy Wales, founder of #Wikipedia: “We’re designing everything for the long haul, and the only way we can last that long is not by pandering to this raging mob…but maintaining our values, maintaining our trustworthiness. We’re just going to do our thing, and we’re going to do it as well as we can.”
I’ve had an epiphany. Almost every horrible thing Donald #Trump has done to this country thus far has been accomplished via executive order. This means the next president can simply reverse most of it, like Thanos, with a snap of his or her fingers. (1/7)
What a peacemaker is our president! Finally, a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. All it took was 70,000 dead (an estimated 80% civilians and 59% women and children), the destruction of most of Gaza, purposeful starvation… (1/2)
Charlie Kirk was a toxic shithead. Doesn’t mean he deserved to get shot in a public forum. The whole thing — everything that the US has become, thanks to MAGA — just makes me sad and depressed. And Kirk’s death will only enrage the Nazis all the more. How about no more killing? #CharlieKirk
Discovered yesterday that INFOQUAKE has been released in Russia the best way possible: by receiving a fan email from a new reader in Belgorod thanking me for the fantastic book. A nice pick-me-up for the weekend.
I saw #FANTASTICFOUR: FIRST STEPS last night. The theater was surprisingly three-quarters full for a random Tuesday night, but unlike the SUPERMAN screening I attended, surprisingly quiet. No laughter, no cheering, no applause. (1/4)
#SUPERMAN is colorful, overstuffed, and funny. It’s entertaining. But you know what? If this is the much-ballyhooed new direction for DC superhero flicks, then they’re in serious trouble. (1/7)
We defeated the Nazis once. We’ll do it again.
A fabulous piece of art I discovered from the Swedish illustrated edition of #TheHobbit. That’s Bilbo confronting Gollum, believe it or not, by #ToveJansson. Apparently this illustration caused #JRRTolkien to amend the book, because he never clarified how big Gollum was in the first edition.
For those still keeping track, I am indeed still writing novels, and recently completed a first draft of a new standalone SF novel. The working title: THE TIMEPIECE OF GOD.
Why are we not treating #Trump like the existential threat to this country that he is? (1/13)
Many people have pointed out that AI Jedi Trump is carrying a red lightsaber, which indicates that he's a Sith. Fewer people have mentioned why he's wearing the brown robes. #JediTrump
We're about 100 days in. As I predicted (and Hillary Clinton echoed), the byword of the second Trump administration is "stupid." (1/9)
So, that's it then. If the administration can send masked troops to forcibly kidnap someone off a US street, without judicial review or a warrant or even any accusation of a crime... ignore a judge's ruling that requires him to not be deported... (1/3)
I am running to be the President of the United States of America. Here is my very simple platform. 1. On Day One, I will reverse every single one of Donald Trump's idiotic executive orders. Every. Single. One. (1/2)
Let me get this straight. The US needs Greenland from "a security standpoint" as a bulwark against our enemies. But we don't need a strong, independent Ukraine allied with us as a bulwark against Russia? #Greenland #Ukraine
Today's jaw-dropping statistic, courtesy of the judge who will be ruling shortly on Trump's transgender military ban. The DoD spends $5.2 million annually on medical care for gender dysphoria. It spends $42 million per year on medication for erectile dysfunction.
I keep compiling lists in my head of all the awful, terrible, illegal, immoral, unconstitutional things the Trump administration is doing, with the aim of making a viral social media post. Then I think: why? (1/6)
Today I stand with Zelenskyy and Ukraine. Wholeheartedly, unashamedly, unreservedly. #StandWithUkraine
A helpful tip for keeping your sanity in these stressful times: Cholula goes on just about everything.
So it's not ALL bad news in my life. Here is the cover for the upcoming Russian translation of INFOQUAKE, coming soon from Eksmo. I can't read a thing here, but it's some of the best artwork I've seen for my books. So moody and cyberpunk. I love it. #Infoquake
