Na Hong-Jin’s Hope suffers major blow with the arrival of #SpiderManBrandNewDay at the Korean box office. My report for Screen Daily 👇 www.screendaily.com/news/hope-ta...
‘Hope’ takes major hit from ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ at Korea box office
Na Hong-jin's sci-fi thriller has been dethroned by the Marvel blockbuster.

Not exaggerating when I say #SterlingPoint is the best teen drama I’ve seen in years. My Old Ass writer/director Megan Park toes the line so well between cosy summer viewing and teen melodrama that comes with some edge and bite. It’s funny, it’s sexy, it’s swoony. So addictive
Wrote about the emotional heft of that cruel twist and the “breakup” scene that followed in #SpiderManBrandNewDay. Few Marvel films prioritise emotional storytelling in this way, which is exactly why this is the MCU’s best #SpiderMan film yet www.gamesradar.com/entertainmen...
Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s cruel twist cements this as the best MCU Spider-Man film yet
OPINION | Spider-Man: Brand New Day puts emotional storytelling at the forefront, a rarity for the MCU

Women who love women have historically loved the isle of Lesvos, drawn in by the legacy of an ancient Greek poet named Sappho. Find out more in #Lesvia, a moving doc shot by lesbian Lesvos resident Tzeli Hadjidimitriou. Out on VOD in the UK. Cruising Cinema 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/adults-shard...
In this week’s Cruising Cinema, I celebrate Hope hottie Zo In-sung and a new Mother of the Week. I also look back at the Argentine classic, Burnt Money, which is essentially hot gay Bonnie and Clyde. Plus I rank 43 best queer shows of 2026 so far. Subscribe👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/burnt-money-...
Gay Bonnie and Clyde plus Hope's Zo In-sung and a new Mother of the Week
"Be Gay, Do Crime."

This year is an all-timer for Zo In-sung. Harbin, Hope and #PossibleLove, hit after hit, banger after banger (Make no mistake about it. Possible Love is going to be huge)
Jimmy is a poetic portrait of gay literary genius James Baldwin that imagines his life in Paris circa 1948. Benny O Arthur’s seductive take on this icon is almost mythic thanks to a surprising lack of dialogue. Limited release in US cinemas. Cruising Cinema 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/adults-shard...
#CapedCrusader is back with new episodes! Fruits take note, because s2 continues Harley Quinn’s lesbian love story that was established in season one. The joke’s on Mister J because he’s got nothing to do with Harley at all here. More at Cruising Cinema 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/adults-shard...
My husband Paul Baker just got his own stand-alone episode of #Adults that tells his origin story ahead of season two. While “origin story” might suggest a Marvel superhero-style gig, the truth is I just want to see Jack Innanen in spandex. Cruising Cinema 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/adults-shard...
Na Hong-Jin’s HOPE is even wilder than I expected. A bonkers genre blend that’s thrilling, terrifying and surprisingly hilarious. It’s flawed yes, but when it’s really working, it’s better than any recent Hollywood blockbuster. Also includes the year’s best poop story, no doubt
Really appreciated how Sadie Sink’s arc in #SpiderMan flips a lazy, offensive comic book trope on its head. Wrote more in this (very spoilery) piece for Digital Spy👇 www.digitalspy.com/movies/a7330...
How Spider-Man: Brand New Day avoids repeating a lazy Marvel pattern
This X-cellent start bodes well for the future.

#IWantYourSex isn’t just what I scream at photos of Hudson Williams. It’s also the name of gay icon Gregg Araki’s return to cinemas with a BDSM sex/crime comedy. So just a normal Tuesday if you’re gay. In US cinemas now and UK August 28. More at Cruising Cinema www.cruisingcinema.com/adults-shard...
This week is STACKED with new films and shows made with alphabet people in mind. That includes the new #SpiderMan film, which sluts Tom Holland out more than I thought was humanly possible. What I’d give to wall crawl over all that. More at Cruising Cinema 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/adults-shard...
My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) is a gay classic made for TV that changed the face of cinema. Smart and uniquely British, it plays with all kinds of cultural clashes that typified Thatcher’s UK. An experience to rinse and repeat regularly. More below 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/my-beautiful...
Black Panther, My Beautiful Laundrette and an X-cellent Mother of the Week
David Jonsson deserves the whole world, not just Wakanda.

Today’s Cruising Cinema includes a bumper round up of 12 new shows and films coming out for the alphabet people including #Adults, #TheShards, #Lesvia, #IWantYourSex and more. Plus #SpiderMan love and Andrew Garfield in spandex. Read and subscribe below 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/adults-shard...
Spider-Man, The Shards and I Want Your Sex — Plus Andrew Garfield in spandex
Would love to wall crawl all over that.

Loved the genuinely quite scary episode of #StrangeNewWorlds this week and how it sets up a potential X-Files style spinoff for #StarTrek. More at Radio Times 👇 www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/st...
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 has set up the perfect spin-off - but what exactly is Division 12?
It's not the first time Division 12 has been mentioned...

👑 Welcome back to Mother of the Week where we celebrate icons who have been Mother to us all. 😍 This week’s choice is easy to fall for. I want to believe you’re as obsessed as I am. 🤔 Have you guessed who it is yet? 📧 Find out below 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/my-beautiful...
#BatmanCapedCrusader continues to be an underrated gem in season 2. Clever twists on classic villains, more gorgeous noir-style animation and another queer episode to boot! There’s a new take on a spectral DC hero that I especially loved. Wish Prime would release this one weekly
It’s a good thing #BrandNewDay came so soon after The Odyssey because Tom Holland does some fantastic acting in this one. Easily his best work since he became #SpiderMan. Can’t remember the last time a Marvel film made me feel emotional (altho this pic does stir up a lot too)
In a career full of masterpieces, Secrets & Lies might be Mike Leigh’s greatest masterpiece of all. It’s devastating that his career is likely coming to an end, even if the reasons why are very understandable. A huge loss for cinema.
#DragRaceFrance simultaneously having the best runway and worst elimination I’ve seen on Drag Race all year 😞
Livid at how #XMen97 treated Magik in this week’s episode. Especially disappointing for a show that has otherwise been very progressive and mostly in tune with what fans actually want. Wrote more about Illyana at Radio Times today 👇 www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/x-...
X-Men '97 season 2's tragic death repeats a disappointing trope for a character that deserved so much better
Her fate in the show echoes the troubling treatment she's received in decades past

Being gay is NOT a choice. How do I know? Because I was always going to be gay after seeing this as a kid. The Odyssey this. The Odyssey that. What you “Odyssey” is Brad Pitt’s v-line in Troy. More at Cruising Cinema below 👇 www.cruisingcinema.com/hannibal-ava...
South Korean director Hur Bum-wook has tragically died aged 43, just two weeks before the release of his award-winning animated film Pig That Survived Foot-And-Mouth Disease. My report for Screen Daily 👇 www.screendaily.com/news/korean-...
Korean animation director Hur Bum-wook dies aged 43
The release of 'Pig That Survived Foot-And-Mouth Disease' by the rising filmmaker has been postponed.
