Let’s level set. MICHIGAN is a must-win if we want to flip the Senate. A word caution: This race was tighter than many predicted. El-Sayed needs Stevens supporters in the general, so it’s not smart strategy to keep them angry. Welcome them. Focus on issues. Time is short, so healing must be quick

Sure, Democrats are not perfect and we have some bad apples. But sexual harassment and abuse of women has become an absolute epidemic among elected Republicans because it is the culture of the party under lifetime serial sexual harasser Donald Trump.

Viewing the key issue of the political moment as whether the "leftists" or "moderates" dominate the Democratic Party is a great way to miss the actual key issue: We have a fascist in the White House and Democrats need to win big in November. That will require fully shelving factionalism.

The left won three highly competitive congressional races in Michigan while being vastly outspent—and Politico claimed it was evidence the left is struggling.

Fetterman and Stewart talk past each here. Fetterman is correct that Israel never had a Palestinian partner for peace; and Arab and Iranian regimes fund/support rejectionists. But Stewart-and many Israeli military and intelligence leaders-are right that Israel's current course is unsustainable

Jennifer Schulze (@newsjennifer.bsky.social ): If you want to know what David Ellison would do w/ CNN, look at CBS, "a raging dumpster fire with non-stop controversies ... meddling in editorial content to make it more Trump-friendly and historic declines as the audience runs away as fast as it can."

David Ellison can’t be trusted with CNN

We've already seen how Ellison has wrecked CBS. Don't fall for his PR push on CNN.

The GOP's ideological uniformity-behind extremism-demonatrates the party's dessication under Trump, setting up many of its candidates to lose winnable races. Democrats should not emulate Rs by becoming more rigid. Since FDR, Ds have won with a diverse alliance of politicians who reflect their voters

@mattyglesias.bsky.social: “Democrats are not exactly enjoying intra-party peace, unity, and good vibes this summer. But…the GOP is in a bizarre level of array for a party whose leader is hideously unpopular.” open.substack.com/pub/matthewy...

This "diminishes the gravity of that day, denigrates the work of the prosecutors and law enforcement officers who secured these convictions, and excuses criminal acts that caused a centuries-long pillar ‌of our democracy — the peaceful transfer of presidential power — to buckle," Judge Mehta

Judge Pained as He Grants Dismissal of Jan. 6 Charges Against Oath Keepers

The judge, Amit P. Mehta, blasted the administration’s request for a dismissal in the case, saying it bestowed “unearned grace” on the Oath Keepers defendants “by wiping their records clean.”

Seth Rogan has long been brilliant at playing shlubs who somehow find themselves with beautiful, successful women. See Knocked Up and Take This Waltz (Sarah Polley's excellent film). But he outdoes his shlubness in Olivia Wilde's The Invite. Highly recommended.

Putting forward such an entirely unprepared candidate at the top of the Democratic ticket in a crucial swing state - in which devoted D party members have spent years rebuilding - would be political malpractice.

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asks Francesca Hong, the leading candidate in Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary, whether she still believes Thanksgiving should be canceled. Hong gives a response that will satisfy no one.

Mullin's being as brutal as possible in implementing Trump's mass deportation agenda. But his admission that some immigrants play a productive role in society has provoked an outcry in MAGA ranks, where portraying immigrants as anything other than a noxious drain on the society is impermissible.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social · yesterday

Don't miss this vile story: MAGA is raging at DHS chief Markwayne Mullin for admitting migrant farmworkers can beneft our economy. This means his devotion to ethnic cleansing is in doubt. He must be excommunicated! I wrote about the collapse of MAGA mythology here: newrepublic.com/article/2138...
