Whimsical and Thought Provoking. (Mrs Rout wrote that in my Standard 1 report, I think it still holds true)

To be perfectly embarrassingly honest, until I read the sad news on here a few minutes ago my entire life I have always thought I was going to eventually marry Sam Neil, him (or Neil Finn). It was my birthright as a NZ woman.

I’ve been travelling btwn Wgtn and Chch a lot this year but I’ve fisnnaly started trying to make our Wgtn place cosy & my partner & brother wallpapered my bdrm this weekend… the wallpaper was supposed to be for Gov Bay but I bought it up here & it looks amazing with my headboard…

Mind the gap wallpaper featuring wolves and horses and cats trotting around an enchanted woodland.

God we’re fucked. A genuine climate crisis, a bunch of billionaire sociopaths playing endgame monopoly and the worst bunch of lily livered leaders in the world letting the US’s toddler in chief start a holy fucking war. I’m not getting up today.

Just had to say over dinner “how about we don’t discuss the rape and abuse of women and girls on my birthday as a rule from now on”… the world is so dark you can’t have a nice anything anymore.

It’s been years since I’ve lived lived in Wellington and you really do learn to appreciate the sun here don’t you. Unlike all of the rest of you who take it for granted.

Damn Catherine O’Hara was a genuine icon to me, I loved everything she did. And in recent years her character Moira became my home style guide. Pyjamas, waistcoats, a cashmere robe I saved and saved for, and brooches… she somehow managed to channel my idea of comfy perfection…
