We connect to act.

We are deeply saddened to share that Barbara Miles, a beloved colleague and pioneer in the field of deafblindness, has passed away. Barbara touched many people deeply and will be sadly missed. Her legacy, however, will remain with us and will continue to inspire our field.

A woman is sitting, looking very alert and warm as she gazes into the camera. She has blue-green eyes and light brown hair that is just past shoulder length. She is wearing a blue-green jumper, a matching gilet, a light green drop earring and a silver necklace with a rectangular watch pendant featuring a black watch face.

The highlight of the week? The fantastic online party for DbI’s 50th birthday! If you missed it: Here’s the video from Tony Best, who takes you on a brief journey through DbI’s history. The next chance: The in-person cake-cutting event at the World Conference in Davos. #dbi50 #deafblind27

The Global Education Campaign builds bridges – just as DbI does in general. And so it can happen, as it has this evening, that three people from Iran, the USA and Switzerland come together to find a way to support twins with deafblindness and their family in Pakistan. #EducationForAll #DBI

An old arched stone bridge spans a narrow river gorge in a lush, forested, steep mountainous landscape. To the right of the bridge stand two houses, the one in the foreground with a stone roof. The river is visible at the very bottom centre of the picture, whilst the evening sun is visible in the upper fifth of the frame.

Let’s start the day by congratulating Tahereh Najafi Fard, Saheb Yousefi, and Valerie Caron. Their research project on “Planning Education for Children and Youth with Deafblindness” in Iran is the second project of the Research Initiative to officially reach its goal. #LetMeIn #DBI #deafblindness

A man and a woman are standing in front of a glass wall with a green plant directly behind them. The woman is smiling and leaning slightly toward the man, who is noticeably taller than her. She is wearing a pink top, a matching headscarf, white pants, and shoes. He is wearing a gray polo shirt, gray pants, and shoes.

Great news: Yesterday, we held the first Deafblind Africa Network webinar. And today is July 19. In exactly one year, the World Conference will open! Registration opens on August 3. And by the end of August, the committee will contact everyone who has submitted an abstract. #letmein #davos27

Close-up of a large building with a wooden facade and a wooden canopy. The shot focuses on a tall glass facade with black-framed glass panels. Written in white on it is “Davos Congress,” with a symbol above it. To the left of that, the following words are listed one below the other: “Welcome. Willkommen. Bienvenue. Benvenuti. Bainvegni.”
