After Will West Long died in 1947, his nephew Walker Calhoun (1918–2012) dedicated his life to preserving Cherokee culture. Calhoun taught traditional dances and medicine songs, helped found the Raven Rock Dancers, and revived sacred heritage, earning a 1992 National Heritage Fellowship.

Alessandro Moreschi was the last Sistine Chapel castrato and the only one to make solo recordings. Italian castrati were trained to preserve high vocal ranges, peaking in the 17th–18th centuries. Moreschi joined the choir in 1883, recorded in 1902–1904, retired in 1913, and died in 1922. #DeathAtlas
