Proudly serving the people of Michigan's 6th Congressional District. Chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.

The Gordie Howe bridge’s pedestrian and bike path is now open! This path from Michigan to Canada embodies our enduring connection and partnership. Our work now is to pave a path to a stronger future for U.S.-Canada relations that strengthens our communities, economies, and mutual respect.

The president wants to let people pay for early access to his social media posts. This would give wealthy people and corporations access to market-moving information before anyone else. It’s another case of corruption for this administration.

Survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault deserve to be heard, and those who perpetuate abuse deserve to be held accountable. I’ve spent my career fighting for survivors, because I know what it is like to be in a situation wondering if you will live or die.

Affordable and accessible healthcare should not be a privilege for the wealthy. It should not be labeled a progressive or moderate idea by the media. Healthcare is a human right. And we must keep fighting for an affordable America that leaves nobody without the care they need when they need it.

No chance I’m letting China disrupt America’s auto industry to destroy our workforce and manufacturing economy. We need a level playing field in the global marketplace that does not allow China to manipulate their currency and rely on slave labor to get ahead. www.reuters.com/business/aut...

Today's opening of the Gordie Howe bridge will strengthen our economy and create jobs on both sides of the border. It’s a powerful symbol of the partnership between the U.S. and Canada.    We are stronger when we work together, not when we create unnecessary barriers between allies.

Canada is our neighbor, friend, and indispensable partner. I look forward to seeing the Gordie Howe bridge officially open on Monday to help both Michiganders and Canadians. This opening serves as a lasting reminder of the ties that unite us.

Wildfire smoke is a reminder that we are all connected. Air does not recognize borders. Neither do the impacts of a changing climate. We need to work together across borders and political differences to address the challenges we face. www.detroitnews.com/story/opinio...

Wildfire smoke is a reminder: we are all connected | Dingell

Recent wildfire smoke in Michigan is a stark reminder that we share the same air and responsibility for our future.

Trump’s continued false claims about the 2020 election should concern all of us. This isn’t about 2020 anymore. It’s about eroding trust in our elections and in the votes Americans will cast in 2026. We must protect the integrity of our elections and freedom to vote.

Today we honor our dear friend John Lewis and the extraordinary legacy he left behind. He dedicated his life to protecting our democracy, expanding the right to vote, and urging us to make “good trouble” in the face of injustice. The best way to honor him is to keep doing that work.

My district includes the University of Michigan, a medical research powerhouse. They depend on medical research being guided by science—not politics.    The Trump Administration's plan to inject politics into science threatens improved healthcare outcomes for ALL Americans.

Wildfire smoke is continuing to make the air unhealthy from Michigan to D.C. Older adults and people with certain health conditions should stay indoors when possible. And don’t forget to check on a friend or family member. We get through days like this by looking out for one another.

Today I am returning home to be with my family during an incredibly painful and deeply personal time. Our family’s 12-day-old daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter has returned home to God this afternoon. We have been in God’s hands throughout all of this.

The administration stopped monitoring foodborne illness, and now it’s turning into a shitty situation for Michiganders. I’m going to be leading an oversight effort demanding answers from the CDC on why they weren’t prepared and how they plan to respond. open.substack.com/pub/distills...

Trump Cut Food Safety. Now Michigan Has the Shits.

The CDC stopped monitoring foodborne illnesses and now over 3K Michiganders have explosive diarrhea. 💩

Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill gutted Americans’ healthcare and ripped food from hungry families in order to pay for a tax cut for billionaires. More than 8 million Americans have already lost their healthcare and over 4 million Americans have lost food assistance.

Women in America do 62% of all unpaid caregiving.  Over 280 hours a year picking up prescriptions, taking kids to the dentist, or watching over aging parents. That's $682 BILLION in invisible labor.  Caregiving is a key pillar of our economy, and it is time our policies reflect that.

Healthcare costs are rising for working people, and this administration is doing nothing to help those who are hurting the most. When Democrats take back the House, we will get to work expanding access to affordable, quality healthcare.

Algae in the reflecting pool? Check. Big Mac wrappers littering the White House? Check. Refusing to sign bipartisan housing legislation and instead focus on voter suppression? Check. Another week of winning for the president.
