I think it's incongruous that Hera is the goddess of marriage. She wasn't very good at it.

Fan of scifi, fantasy, fiction, board games, bridge (the card game), travel, silliness, etymology, and linguistics. I have a thorny relationship with the rules of grammar. We're trying to work it out.
I've always liked Matthew Norman. I just don't remember liking him this much. Two chapters in. Two widowed characters. Me getting funny looks in the street as I take a lunchtime walk and find myself overcome with surprise laughter, over and over. Two chapters in.
My favorite author used up all the Greek names. ALL OF THEM. Just selfishly hoarded them all. I have found a way to handle this. Etruscan. Look. I think I saw history once. I nodded in it's direction and kept going. We didn't speak.
I can’t help thinking that 90% of the Greek pantheon seemed to be auditioning for the Jerry Springer show.
Am I the only person who feels like the value in workshops is being read not critiqued? The weird part is I'm such a misanthrope. I could happily not see or speak to anyone for weeks. As soon as I write a sentence BAM! Suddenly I'm an extrovert.
I like audiobooks. I like reading while I commute, walk, cook, clean, knit, stand on line at the post office, wrestle insomnia.
Recently, well a few months ago, I went to a gaming Expo. I played a four games and they were all pretty cool and family Niche. Fate and Barbarians of Lemuria are rules lite enough that you can concentrate on you know, rping, not rules lawyering.
If you run out of ancient Greek names, is it cheating to steal from the Illiad? I mean there's a lot of names there.
I want to know more about Pliny the Elder, but I'm afraid my image of him would be ruined. I see him as a 1st century volunteer fireman - with ships.
I don't know the term for an effort that is meant neither as a commercial endeavor or a vanity project.
Today I'm wrestling with deep questions about the Helenistic Period. How do you dress for a meeting with your superiors that's different from any other day? Brush your linen chiton? Would you use a handy dandy Ronco fabric brush that works on linen, wool and leather and comes with a key chain?
@bettermyths.bsky.social Why am I telling you this? Who else can I say this to? 1st. I blame Paris for everything. 2.Theseus was a dick. Ariadne should have asked for the Minotaur to be revived. 3.WTF Artemis. The poor guy went for a walk. Sheesh. 4. Poor Cassandra. That was too unfair.
Bluesky huh? Now I need to figure out how to talk to random people about books, Greek mythology, whether my computer is living a secret life and why Spanish needs 26 verb tenses and six moods and have them not be weird.
I am writing a novel! This is very exciting! Not least because I bet you're writing a novel too. Oh, and your cousin? Is your cousin writing a novel? What about the dog? But I really am. I have 2.5 chapters and an outline.
The Jonathon Fairfax books by Christopher Shevlin are my favorite kind humor
