Emily Wilson coming for Nolan's THE ODYSSEY with knives out feels not just tacky but kind of small-minded in the way we make fun of comic book fans for being small-minded when a movie adaptation changes stuff from comics.

I regret to inform you that right wing chud grifters on Twitter are *still* freaking out about THE ODYSSEY being a massive critical and commercial success. Oscar season is going to break their feeble minds for all time.

Finally caught up with BACKROOMS and absolutely loved it, particularly Kane Parsons' commitment to sheer, Lynchian surrealism in the final act.Planning to revisit it sooner than later.

Was in the mood for classic high fantasy, so I picked up this terrific collection, which also includes art by the great Charles Vess. Only ever read the first book, years ago. Can't wait to dig in!

Several days later, I'm still thinking about THE ODYSSEY. It's settled near the top of my Nolan rankings. There are so many unforgettable moments, as well as some truly horrific scenes that have left me wanting Nolan to make a pure horror movie next. Can't wait to see it again!

Made the mistake of glancing at the Odyssey takes on Twitter. It's nothing but ridiculous right wing cope. These people really thought their insular, ragebaiting social media bubble mattered... and now they're imploding over the fact that it doesn't. Not in the slightest.

THE ODYSSEY is absolutely incredible. Gripping, beautiful and haunting, it must be seen on the biggest screen possible. Believe the hype. And also believe the 16-year-old kid sitting behind me who, when the film ended, said "Woooooo. That was a GOOD ASS movie, dude!"

I think the problem with the Rock is that the Rock still thinks he’s really cool while John Cena realized that he’s a ridiculous human being and did interesting things with that and Batista realized he was a ridiculous human being and decided to become Daniel Day Louis

In addition to being a great and versatile actor, Sam Neill spent his last years running a sustainable farm in New Zealand where he raised dozens of rescue animals. His best friend was a pig named Angelica that walked the property with him every day. Just an all-around wonderful human.

My favorite thing about Iron Maiden is that, aside from being geniuses who completely changed heavy metal, they were also giant film and literature nerds. So you got amazing metal songs about Dune, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, The Prisoner, H.P. Lovecraft, and Miyamoto Mushashi. So great!

The best part about the original STAR WARS is that, at its deepest heart, it's just about a kid who wants to leave his shitty small town and do something that matters. It's that simple. And that's why it resonates.

A few years ago, I climbed multiple fire escapes to the top of a 12-storey building in Hollywood with my ex on our first date. I thought that was pretty cool and have told the story many times. Now a couple of hot Russians have one-upped me. FML.

So happy that I own the 2015 Lionsgate blu-ray release of TERMINATOR 2, as it's the closest to how the film actually looked upon release (proper color correction, grain intact) and far surpasses the recent 4K release that smoothes everything out into 4K waxiness. Physical media forever.
