It's kind of cool to grab an apple off your tree as you head out for a walk or an errand. Today we had to pick them all though because we saw the bear and had to harvest them before he did.

Red apple. Green leaves. It is shiny and delicious. No pesticides or fertianers other than last year's apples we shook off the tree and left for critters or to decompose back into the soil.

2 red apples with green leaved and some rain drops. They don't all look perfect like this. The kids sort them into Grade A, Grade B and Roll them down the driveway to see who can get them under the gate and acroos the road.

The bear. He is brown but he is a black bear if that makes sense. Pretty common around here and why we keep our garbage, etc in secure sheds and our car doors locked. He doesn't have a driver's license but he does like to chevk for granola bars in unlocked cars. We don't see him in our yard much, he prefers the neighbours with now dog and no fence but since the apples are ripe he was snooping around.

Same dog going the other direction in the same pose. This will go on about 20 minutes or so. She was a good girl for her bath and got lots of treats. Side note, watering lawn in the summer is frowned upon here and she chose the part of our yard with the most direct sunlight to make the most of the brownest grass to get as much dirt picked up as possible. Fortunately her water resistant outer coat doesn't swiffer as well as she'd like. You can see she didn't choose the area of our yard with less direct sunlight that stays green all year. That would have a lower roll to dirt ratio.

Sitting in my wingback chair that I bought because it seemed like something my granny would have liked, reading a book and eating peanut butter pie (think tiger butter taste) off a bamboo kids' plate because I'm bougie like that.

Graham crust, cheesecake like filling, choclate ganauche on top with a few peanuts. Blue plate with a mouse on it and it says cheese please. I have no little kids but some of my friends do so I keep a set around. They're also great for taking back and forth to the patio because they don't break but to be honest it isn't as if we're juggling or especially clumsy with our other plates when we take them outside and if they land on our hardwood flooring they'd fare no better than landing on the deck outside but I never claimed to make sense. Except that earlier post about high heels in the house being nonsense. I stand by that.

I just purchased a food processor. Dear. Lord. People. There are instructions on how to remove it from the box. The bar for competence has become very low folks. 🤦‍♀️

Do American women wear high heels around their homes in real life as much as they do in movies and TV?

Mug from the Book Corner at Guildford mall. It is a cool set up with comfy chairs set to look like a bougie den or library where all proceeds from books and bookish merch go to the Surrey Firefighters' library & literacy initiatives. Naturally we had to buy books and stuff. 📚📖

This amazing quilt is hanging at our library right where you sign out books. Even the names on the spines are embroidered.

1.5m x 2m approx, maybe larger I didn't measure. That would have been weird, even for me. Hanging on a grey wall. The quilt looks like a loaded book shelf with many books, a clock, a fruit bowl and dragon flies. Many of the names on the spines of the books are people who made donations to the library. It looks like a painting and is lovely

At the public library today and they have a tribute to Dolly. Apparently some items had alread been borrowed since the display went up.

A honey coloured wooden book shelf decorated with pearls and some teardrop shaped prisms (the most sparkle the library could come up with on short notice with zero budget) and some of Dolly's movies, music and various books by her or about her or inspired by her. The top shelp has a page sized printed poster in pink with a kiss on it that reads The Queen of Country Dolly Parton. Even the library misses you, Dolly

Every time I think I've made a dent in my TBR pile, I go and add more books. 📖

I miss mass-market paperbacks. They fit in a back pocket. You could read through them like twice before they disintegrated. You could get them for a few bucks at basically every grocery store at the checkout. They were great

I found these for my son to use in his classroom library so his students can borrow his books old school style. Of course I had to explain to him what they were first.

1 package of envelopes to be glued into the front of a book and one packape of the sign out cards they used to ise in libraries, the kind with spots for title, author, borrower's name and date. Back when people used to write things instead of just scan them and you could see the borrowing history of the book.

Chocolate lab stretched out over 3 spots on the couch. She has blankets and she is tuckered out. It has been a long morning of dog jobs. Also a large plaid pillow, and a window looking out to grass and trees with stuffies, books, Cinderella's fairy godmother and a Mandalorian cup from the movie theatre.

Bunches of small purple grapes and a bunch of green grape leaves. I planted the grape vines 5 years ago because I love the vines and the side effect is loads of grapes. Who knew? So now our garden shed and our batting cage are covered in grapes which it turns out can be used to make jelly which is delicious and suprisingly easy to make.

I think my orchid has alien probes 👽🌺

Green, snakelike probes coming out of a white plant pot. Some dead petals that have fallen off the beautiful flowers. The flowers are clearly a diversion from the sinister probes. Now that I look with an open mind, the flowers themselves have a vaguely Micheal Bay Decepticon face.

White orchids looking beautiful and innocent but are they innocent? I am not so sure. Upside, they have comeback 3 years in a row. Or possible downside now that I see the alien probes they are hiding.

And yes, those are Skylander stickers on the shelving unit in the background. If your children are the right age to have experienced Skylanders, you will recognize these stickers. If your children had a grandmother that made it her mission to make sure her grandsons had as many Skylanders as possible (one each because they carried the saved game data and who wants to use his brother's Eyebrawl game data?), then you will also have crates of these things somewhere in your house because they still get played for Nastalgia purposes. And Robin Hood is kickin it in the background too

If you liked the reseeding snap dragon from a couple weeks ago, maybe you'll appreciate a pop up fern I keep not trimming

Small green fern about 10cm high growing at the edge of a paving stone pathway. It is an area that is supposed to be properly trimmed and I trim the rest of it, I promise, but I go around this little guy. He has buddies I go around too because baby native species 😍 Moss/grass is also in the photo

My boy Kirby. I used the round cushion pattern from Yarnspirations for the circle and then made up the feet, arms and face based on suggestions from my kids.

Pink, circular, crocheted throw pillow about 35cm in diametre. It has triangleish blob shaped flippers (or arms, not sure if Kirby has arms or flippers), red round shoes (more cylindrical actually but you can't tell from this angle), rosey cheeks (very important to Mr Dee that they weren't forgotten), a smiley mouth and oval black eyes with white circles at the top and blue not circles but I don't know what that shape would be called at the bottom. I made the appendages up myself and didn't write it down so they don't match because I couldn't remember exactly what I did from one to the other. I was inspired to make him because a pack of 6 pillow inserts was marginally more expensive than one so when I made the baseball pillow for which I needed one I then had to come up with an additional 5 designs. Necessity being the mother of invention or buying a 6 pack being the mother of "Holy crap, what will I do with 5 more pillows?" Now you know.

I am a sucker for a well lit path at dusk.

Path leading down to the beach (beach not shown) but it could be leading sonewhere magical with fairies and small dragons who like biscuits because all eodded paths can lead there. Wooden fence helping hold up the bank on the left and wooden railing stoppibg folks from tumbling off on the right. Various sorts of trees growing up on either side and meeting in the middle. Really, if you're quiet you might hear the magical creatures, if you're not as quiet you'll still hear the seagulls letting you know they are there.

If a tidy, ornate garden is your thing then you will probably think I'm a bad gardener but if a garden where snap dragins are allowed to reseed themselves willynilly is more your thing then I have the place for you

Bunch of orange/yellow/red snap dragons bursting out of a crack between my pavers. They look ready to burst into song Disney style at any moment. Cedar fence post in the background, concrete paver in the foreground. When I tun my back I'm pretty sure I hear a tiny chorus. Also Jack Reacher was right, snap dragons have a cool name and they're hard to kill.

My son went to some sort of nerd* convention and brought me home this Pikmin 😍 *nerd is a term of endearment in our house & is not meant with any disrespect & encompasses many forms of media, sports, cars & IP fandom

Yellow crocheted or maybe knitted Pikmin. It looks a bit like a teletubby with 2 eyes and a kind of teardrop shaped head. The tip of the teardrop is elongated and droping with a flower on it. If you have never played/experienced Pikmin, you have missed out on a warm, sweet hearted experience. And they are so cute trooping around in their little cooperative groups. We could learn a lot from Pikmins. I'm not sure the correct term for many Pikmin. This one about 15cm tall.
