My 76-year-old father tried introducing me to Die Antwoord this week.

I wrote this episode of Super Mario Sunshine Review Crew back in May of 2025. It was a little dusty, but I'm excited to FINALLY be able to post the episode more than a year later. What took so long, Nintendo??
K-Pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut is an absolutely baffling management sim that is more worried about etiquette and makeup application than singing and dancing. My very confused review: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrtQ...

Confusingly, two games with (almost) the same title came out this month. Farlands from JanduSoft hit PS5 on the 16th, while Far Lands from Axyos Games hit consoles yesterday. I'm sure that was an SEO nightmare for both publishers.
K-Pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut makes some genuinely baffling choices.
What happened to @retromags.com's sorting? No matter what filter I use, it's impossible to get a section to start with issue 1 and then go in chronilogical order until the final issue. The best I can do is get it to list the issues backwards, which is causing a new set of problems.
Lifted is a pretty good 2.5D platformer. It's basically Rayman + Tomb Raider with a heavy dose of Back to the Future (including a rather obnoxious impression of Michael J. Fox). I like the platforming, but the hero spends the whole game complaining about time traveling. That's annoying.
@suskie.bsky.social I showed that robot video you posted (where it fell backwards and started twitching) to my father, and it has probably been 20 years since I've seen him laugh that hard. He rewatched it a bunch of times, howling with laughter every single time.
Watched Jeopardy with my folks tonight and one of the categories was "Avengers," so I said, "the next category is going to be 'Assemble.'" The next category was, in fact, "Assemble." Both of my parents looked at me like I was psychic. I could have told them how I knew, but it's more fun this way.
I'm not saying that I will review this game about watching paint dry in real time, but I'm also not saying that won't review it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXFy...

There has never been a video game generation where fans didn't insist that "the next great games crash" was imminent. Predicting doom and gloom has always been around (and will likely never go away).
Wait ... the Forensics: Crime Scene Detective review embargo ends on Saturday? I can't remember the last time a review embargo lifted on a weekend.
Trying my hardest to explain the whole Xbox reset thing to this Microsoft Bob-themed brush from 1995.
Look, I get that Danny Masterson has committed far worse crimes in his life, but he should probably get an additional life sentence for the amount of times he uses "phat" or "phatter" to describe things.
If you've ever watched a movie reaction video on YouTube, then you'll know why Netflix wants writers to reiterate what's going on every 15 minutes. Movies are, apparently, extremely confusing to a lot of viewers.
We're halfway through 2025, which means it's time to check in with the Nintendo Switch Online. Good? Bad? Virtual Boy?? Brace yourself to the Nintendo Classics Mid-Year Report Card! www.youtube.com/watch?v=skgj...

More than 30 years after it debuted in arcades, Biomechanical Toy is FINALLY coming to home consoles later this month. The publisher likens it to Metal Slug, but it feels more like a genuinely good (non-science fiction) Cyber Lip mixed with Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I dig it.

If you watched any episode of The Apprentice, you can easily see how the Great American State Fair came about. People who have no experience running a fair were likely given 24 hours (& no support) to half-ass everything good enough to impress a panel of judges mostly made up by people named Trump.
I reviewed this game (City Game Studio) five years ago, and since then it has been the only game on my What's New section because it seemingly updated fifteen times a day. It makes this part of Steam completely useless. Even when I limit the notifications, they still get through.
Rose & Locket is a stylish action game about a bounty hunter tracking down and killing the 7 deadly sins. Great premise and even better game. An absolute must-play! Full review: www.defunctgames.com/courant/1852... Video Review: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVcQ...

The thumbnail I created myself vs. the A.I.-generated thumbnail YouTube suggested I go with. Yikes!!!!
Played through the whole thing last night and Rose & Locket is absolutely one of the best games of the year.
Playing through Rose & Locket for review, and I'm absolutely blown away by how inventive it is. It grabs you right from the start and never lets go. It's something truly special.
