People so often overuse words like "pioneer" or "icon." Not in this instance. RIP.

Something no one has been able to say in over 25 years - new album on the way from the legendary Boston band Morphine. More to say about this later....
Morphine Announce Posthumous Album 'Cocoon': Hear Title Track
As the years pass, it gets harder and harder to believe that Mark Sandman was a real guy — that he made the music that he did, that he looked like that, that he was actually named Mark Sandman, and th...

Stellar work by @amandabeland.bsky.social, or should I say Amanda Beeeeeeland 🐝
WBUR@wbur.org · 3mo agoA group of inmates at Pondville Correction Center in Norfolk learned how to care for hives of honeybees with the local beekeepers association. One of the men said the experience taught patience and has been very grounding.
Beautiful new track from Danny Sea, recorded & mixed by me at the Shop. Aside from his voice it's 100% cellos. dannysea.bandcamp.com/track/taxman

WBUR@wbur.org · 6mo agoThe Native American sport, in which players use two sticks to carry and toss a small ball, is considered one of the oldest team sports in the country. For those getting together to play on Harvard's campus, it's a connection to their ancestry.
THIS, RIGHT HERE. 👏👏👏 It's real easy to complain. How about you try to build something, instead.
Dart Adams@dartadams.bsky.social · 7mo agoTalk bad about Boston in a public forum in front of mixed company for widespread approval. I know everyone else hates Boston but I AM my city and if you ain’t in the trenches with us trying to drag this city toward progress and equity then you can keep Boston’s name out of your mealy ass mouths.
Nice work @amandabeland.bsky.social
WBUR@wbur.org · 7mo agoThe Art Love Club supports LGBTQ students and their allies at a time when the country is divisive and hate is on the rise. This year, the group designed two dozen signs to hang around their school to help kids feel safe and empowered during the school day.

As war grinds on, local Ukrainians keep art tradition alive

NFTs are a historical footnote / laughingstock, "the Metaverse" is a multi-billion-dollar write-off / boondoggle, and Sora has now been shuttered. Just a reminder for the next time a tech grifter tries to use words like "inevitable."
Happy 100th (!) birthday to the Soul Shop Steinway, who rolled off the line in Queens, NY on November 19, 2025. In honor of her centennial I wrote a little bit about her history, and made a playlist of some of our favorite recordings.

WBUR@wbur.org · last yr.Massachusetts' four regional food banks have faced millions of dollars in federal cuts to food supplies and grant programs this year. At the same time, the federal government recently implemented more stringent requirements to qualify for food stamps.

A Hispanic man from Everett won Love Island and I just heard the Tavares version of "More Than A Woman" on the radio. Massachusetts stays winning.

A beautiful piece of writing on fandom by @amandabeland.bsky.social, filtered through the lens of this unique and challenging moment we @celticsnba.bsky.social fans are experiencing
I'm a huge Celtics fan now. Nobody is more surprised than me

A Chicago-native pope will likely be very similar to all other popes, but with celery salt
My favorite part of walking home from the Shop at 3AM is running into my wabbit neighbors. This time it was a special moment between these two lovebirds, an obvious analogue to myself and @amandabeland.bsky.social. (I won't post the video of the flirt-jumping, cause that's between the two of them.)
