I'm a Danish mixed media artist, who's passionate about designing and making ornamental plushies. I sew mostly by hand and love bringing my finished crafts outside for photos that make them come to life. My links: https://linktr.ee/demicreations

I've begun work on a remake of my favorite donkey. There wasn't quite enough left of the original fur. I wasn't worried though, knowing that I had already restocked it. Turns out the rmnew piece has slightly longer and more flaky looking fur. 😱 I've been shaving it. It should look alright now. 🤤🪡🧶🧵

The outdoor temperatures finally dropped to a more pleasant level, so I was able to get many cute photos of Epona (and friends) in the garden. I'll put a link in the comment section below to more photos from the photo shoot. 🪡🧶🧵📸😎

Epona is all done, and I couldn't be happier with how she turned out. Isn't she just glorious?! I really love those ocean-deep blue eyes, and the feathering worked out so well too! 😍🎮🐎🪡🧶🧵

I'm always struggling to find angles for my floppy stage photos, that fit inside the 4:3 format I'm using. I managed to prop Epona's head up, and it resulted in the cutest laying pose ever! I wish she could still achieve that pose after stuffing, but that would require a very different pattern. 🪡🧵🧶🐎

The ears always end up too large on my horses and donkrys, because of the extra volume added by the fur. I've thought about downsizing the pattern for the ears, but I think that simply shaving the fur is the best option. 🪡🧵🧶🐴

The prep-work for Epona is all done, and I can hardly wait to get started with the assembly. This is the first time I'm doing a horse with leg fluff, so I'm excited about that as well. I didn't anticipate the need for short brown shag, so I had to trim some of my longer fur to use instead. 🪡🧵🧶🥰

I'm having way too much fun taking pictures of this one. It's a good thing though. It has had three photoshoots. The first one got catbombed. The second one was cat free, but the fur around the muzzle kept bugging me, so I decided to shorten it. After that I had to take new pictures... 📸🪡🧵🧶

I'm happy that I was able to finish this commission, right before the heatwave arrived. I took the weekend off and treated myself to an extended weekend on the sofa, with my old Nintendo DS and a Zelda game. It was a good way to get through the hot weather. Now the temperatures are much better. 🪡🧵🧶🐎

Phew! That bulky mane flap sure did make the assembly a lot harder and more time consuming. Connecting the neck to the body, meant that I had to temporarely fit in a lot of bulky stuff into the body cavity, while sewing along the edges. Good thing I hadn't added the tail yet. 😆🪡🧵🧶

My sewing machine had one of these days, where it would cause trouble every step along the way. I lost count of how many times the top thread broke. Eventually I did get to the end, and the hoof bottoms turned out well. 🪡🧵🧶🐎

BildBildBildBild

I wasn't sure how to best assemble the head and neck, with the addition of the rather chunky mane-flap and forelock. Usually I leave the top of the neck open, until last. This wasn't an option with the way I made the flap, so getting everything into place was a bit of a nightmare. 😵‍💫🪡🧵🧶

The black spots blended a bit too much with the surrounding fur, so I decided to add an extra tuft of fur at the center of each spot, to make them stand out more. I'm also experimenting with slightly wider nostrils, to see if they'll be less prone to close. 🐴🪡🧵🧶

BildBildBildBild

So much fluff! The mane turned out slightly bigger than planned, but the OC has a lot of hair, so should be all good. I had to extend the tail piece, as it would have looked pretty scrawny by comparison. I wish my camera would do a better job of picking up the lavender color though. 🪡🧵🧶🐴

Tambo won the popular vote across platforms, with Bruno coming in second. I've started on a commission, and Tambo is being very helpful, as I try to figure out how to make the mane longer. 🪡🧵🧶🐴

"Primal dun" is finally done! He's made from 232 pieces and took 76 hours to make. I still haven't figured out what to name him. I'm looking for something short but old sounding, and I've come up with a list of five names: Bruno, Julius, Loki, Remus and Tambo. Which name would you pick? 🤔🪡🧵🧶
