Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.

En 2022, après les incendies, 700 camions citernes supplémentaires étaient promis par l'état d'ici à 2027. En 2025, seuls 65 ont été livrées, faisant passer le nombre de ces engins de 3'830 en 2017 à 3'871 en 2024, soit une augmentation de 1 % en sept ans pour se préparer aux incendies.

Dear #episky fellows I am working on death excess during the 2003 heat wave in France. I redid come calculations, and found this impressive difference between men and women: about 1/3 of death excess are men, 2/3 are women (consistent with published results) What could be the cause ? #canicule

Cumulative severity over time. Most years rise a bit and flatten. Two lines just leave the field: 2003, and now 2026, which stacked up severity in June faster than any year on the chart. That early, steep ramp is worying. We are in July #climatchange #climat 3/4
