What a relief it was that Halifax played well yesterday (although we’re still missing chances, at least we’re looking braver). But Vancouver must have been tired, and Pacific’s going to be hungry next week…

Sunday’s game against Toronto will be the least interesting one in the league for everyone but us. (I wonder if even Toronto is that hyped about playing a team they keep drawing.)
Victoria Park in Dartmouth: a handmade sign saying, “come play soccer Thursdays at 7, all welcome”. The purest type of community spirit there is.
Even in the Ghotbi years, Vancouver’s been successful at moving its young players up into other leagues. This will be another nice piece of work.

This is exactly the response I needed to hear from Vanni — it gives me some hope. Not hope for a playoff spot (not yet), but simply hope that we may yet end the season looking like a competitive team.

I heard from Wanderers staff last night that next home game will celebrate Lorenzo Callegari’s 100th game! He certainly deserves the honour, and we’re honoured to have him. But wow… the fact that he’s our second-longest serving Wanderer speaks volumes about our turnover, doesn’t it?
It’s always special to watch a 30-year-old movie with someone who’s never seen it before, and not only does it age well, she loves it. “When Harry Met Sally” truly is a masterpiece, isn’t it?
For the first time in a while, we didn't look smaller than Forge today.
I can hear the howls from my balcony of the pro wrestling match that’s being held on the bridge today. I love this city. : )
GAME DAY! Sadly, the Wanderers still have problems dialing in for big games. But this isn’t a big game today. Forge will be first, we’ll be outside the playoffs, and Vancouver and Cavalry are the league darlings this week. We’re home, we’re healthy, we’re unstressed = we’re dangerous.
The Odyssey was an amazing movie, powerful and sad. I’m very glad I saw it tonight, I’ll be thinking about it for a long time.

At this point, I’m ready not just for the World Cup to go down from 48 teams, but maybe switch to a 5-year schedule as well.
Argh. I can’t be too mad, because the Wanderers played well, scoring twice and applying thunderous pressure at the end. But I can certainly be sad, because we dropped a two-goal lead at home to the team poised to overtake us in the playoff hunt. A fun evening, but it’s going to be a long season.
GAME DAY! At home, at night, a league game, not during the World Cup. Playing a team full of our former players whom we’ve never beaten before. LET’S GO
I’ve learned that Vanni Sartini doesn’t overhype his players: I expect that Caden’s going to be a long-term project, and maybe we’ll see him get some minutes next year. But it fills me with joy to know we’re keeping the T&T connection strong in Halifax!

I’m still buzzing from the victory last night — I’ll admit, our past form and Pacific’s growing hunger for a win had me nervous until the end. On to the next match!
