Social media would be materially better if we shamed every person buying followers and engagement on every platform out of fake social engagement and all of the engagement became organic again. The algos would also improve because they would have less fabricated data to train on and a larger percentage of the total data would be attributed to actual humans. This would also help the ad companies to get better data, which would help them sell more products. Come to think of it, it's a wonder the biggest ecosystem players in these categories haven't all teamed up to squash paid engagement alongside the platforms themselves. I wonder what could be stopping them. Do the ad companies not know how severely they're being lied to? Are the agencies just lying about this alongside the social media platforms?

It is hard to focus on education and conversation here on Bluesky when you find so many discussions look like this one below. People are so quick to block that there are massive block lists out there mentioning anyone who discusses crypto at all. We aren't all bad actors.
