Seniors in our community need homes they can afford, especially those on fixed and extremely low incomes. The good news: 68 more are on the way – including 20 for seniors exiting homelessness. https://news.santaclaracounty.gov/county-and-eden-housing-break-ground-senior-housing-project-san-jose

Hollywood studios greenlight movies they believe will turn a profit. Housing works similarly. “The problem comes when we expect that system to produce something that doesn’t generate enough revenue to pay for itself,” says Destination: Home’s COO Ray Bramson in his new San José Spotlight column.

Is #prevention a sustainable solution to homelessness? KQED News highlighted our local Homelessness Prevention System as one example that works. https://www.kqed.org/news/12093953/a-simple-way-to-prevent-homelessness-is-growing-in-san-francisco-is-it-sustainable

Homelessness is often framed as the result of personal failures or bad choices. But through outreach and community-based research, students at Santa Clara University are finding that's not true for most people living on our streets. Angelique spent eight years without a home, spending nights in her car or on someone’s couch. She didn’t think housing would ever be within reach, especially as she struggled to cover medical bills. The 2016 Measure A Affordable Housing Bond changed that. See how in this clip by sccgov.bsky.social ⤵️
