I found an abalone shell while tide pooling. I was supposed to clean it but i left it outside and i think some creature cleaned it out for me last night.

I like making these little Volcano paintings but i don’t know if they really read as volcanoes. I referenced them from instruction illustration posters.

As a person who makes art for a living, delegating tasks to AI seems like the antithesis of my existence. Even if it’s a same lettered response to a repeated question from someone on the internet.

When filling out orders most of my automation is making sure I have hand drawn thank you cards and stickers and drawing on each outgoing package so it was weird when someone told me that’s the same as AI when having automated responses or using it to fix images they’ve drawn.

I hate how i can hear AI story telling patterns while scrolling through certain platforms. After hearing certain authors talk about their use of AI in “researching” or combining chapters I think I’ll stick to older books for a while.

I’m in my own creative bubble so I don’t really talk to other artists a lot so having a conversation with one who talks about how AI is helping him with certain tasks is kinda of a bummer.

I went tide pooling for the first time yesterday and it was pretty neat. Exploring the caves is pretty fun

I started a logging my hours last week to keep me on task with painting. Painted every day except Wednesday and logged in 66 hours for the week and finished 86 little paintings

I had to fill out orders on Wednesday but got to paint yesterday. Logged in 16 hours, finished 21 little paintings.

My weekly vice is buying two packs of Pokemon cards every Friday from the card shop. For three weeks I got pretty good hits, but one of the was just a card that was jumbo ice cream😐

There’s a masking tape/watercolor demo video online and anytime someone asks what the tape is, the video maker tells them to subscribe to their substack. It’s all okay, get your money- but the tape brand is Nichiban.

As a person who’s watched sports alone and have followed so many bad teams over the years I’m always a bit startled when watching with friends and seeing how reactive they can get.

I have stickers for sale in a neighborhood vintage shop where I post a Venmo QR code so people can pay without bothering the shop owner. It’s an honor system that doesn’t get checked. I think theft could happen but it’s not a thing I worry too much about.

I live a block away from a vintage shop that sells my stickers and zines so sometimes when I’m walking by the owner hands me cash or I’ll get Venmo-ed a little cash while sitting at home. They don’t take a cut because I’m just some neighborhood guy.

Ahhh, they look so good.

I made a zine on how to travel long distance by public transit but here’s the digital file in case you just want to look at the drawings and read the info. As always i appreciate those who buy zines but I know they’re not for everyone.

Picked up bottles of kombucha I designed the labels for while running errands. This is the first time i got to see them in person and they look pretty good.
