Usually thinking about music & vinyl, often when I should be doing something else. I try and post a #TOTD using the 'random item' option on my #discogs #vinyl collection.

Nothing like a disliked ex-boss getting sentenced to 6 years for fraud for kicking long dormant WA groups back into life, as old colleagues reconnect to talk shit about him and enjoy the prospect of him doing time 🤣

Daughter just surfaced looking broken after getting in from Reading sometime after 3am last night. 1st report: Very happy she got to see Geese, Charli xcx is surprisingly good live and Fontaines are even more tedious 6music dad fodder live than on the radio. (Her words, not mine)

Bit annoyed that I've had eye strain all last week and now I can't go the opticians for at least another couple of weeks cos they're going to assume I was staring straight at the eclipse (I wasn't)

On the topic of nurdles, I remember doing a 'back of a fag packet calculation' after seeing Grangemouth on a documentary, and it worked out that to reclaim/recycle the equivalent of 1 day of production there was equivalent to the entire annual recycling of a city the size of Edinburgh or Bristol.

25 tonnes of nurdles, more than 1 billion nurdles, were spilled into the Tyne last week and are washing up on our beaches, north and south of the Tyne. Likely one of the largest ever plastic pollution events in the UK. There is remarkably little mention of this on here.

Guardian headline from Weds 22nd July reading:

“One billion plastic pellets spilled into River Tyne after two ships collide
Up to 25 tonnes of nurdles, the raw material for plastic manutacturing, have spread further than initially feared”

With an image of a beach covered in nurdles.

Credit where credit is due - takes real organisation tekkers to include Chris Martin in a half time show and him not be the worst thing about it.

Still thinking about the lad happily riding his horse along the pavement when we got off the bus on the local High Street last night. Absolute boss man behaviour.

Hah, the phone just served up this memory. Was this when they launched the Sunday edition after NOTW shut down? I remember they delivered a free one to evey house for some shite reason anyway.

Copy of The Sun newspaper that was delivered free to every house in 2012 as some marketing bullshit. It is wrapped in a postage band addressed to their freepost address with a note telling them to shove it up their arse prior to being dropped in the postbox.

I got to see Ye Vagabonds (Carlow's finest etc etc) on Tuesday evening playing to a small crowd in a tent in the shadow of Corfe Castle. Just seen footage on the 'gram of their sold out show at the Roundhouse on Thursday night so feeling pretty lucky we got to see them in such an intimate space.

When I've got a good audiobook or podcast on the go, it's concerning how much rage and resentment I feel if somebody I know gets on the bus to work and wants to chat. Even people I really, genuinely like. STFU ALREADY! I GET 30 MINUTES PEACE AND FUCKING QUIET EACH WAY WHEN NOBODY IS BOTHERING ME! 😤🤣

That Gil Scott-Heron -> Crosby & Nash -> John Martyn section should come with a trigger warning, @joemuggs.bsky.social 🥹 Pint glass magically refilling...with salty tears 😭😂 Anyway, get on it folks. Perfect tackle for these hot sunny days.

OK so I rather unexpectedly played for EIGHT AND A HALF HOURS at the pub yesterday... Didn't intend it to be so long but then wife and neighbours turned up at teatime and wanted me to carry on... it was quite a vibe.

Having the annual intense negotiations in the garden over whether to hard prune and cut back plants and shrubs. It's days like this you'd really miss having Kofi Annan on speed dial.

I asked my wife yesterday—thinking back on all the gigs, raves, and festivals we’ve done—if she ever felt those events would’ve been improved by the local "Friends of [Insert Arts Centre/Theatre]" curating them and attending as bemused observers. Total swizz.

This ⭐️⭐️⭐️review of Danny Boyle’s Wonka Experience, from the normally commendable Alexis, gives the whole experience a ludicrously easy ride but you can read between the lines… Also, I’m guessing the disappointment is less if you didn’t pay £45 for your ticket. www.theguardian.com/stage/2026/m...
