BildPossibly one of the most content-complete game jam games we’ve seen in a long time, Galactic Empire carefully manages to balance scope with accessibility. The premise and core gameplay of mind-controlling a mix of distinct characters and random NPCs fits great into the jam’s theme and the scale of “taking over a galaxy” is executed impressively well. Above all else, the game goes out of its way to ensure that players can complete it. Despite the large amount of systems at play, all of them are carefully explained, both through the use of good tutorials as well as your character’s diegetic internal monologue, which acts as the invisible hand that ensures the player doesn’t get stuck on a puzzle for too long. Who knew taking over the galaxy could be so fun and easy? Ranked: 3rd in Game Design, 1st in Player Experience, 9th in Asset Implementation
