This race wouldn’t be competitive, but the Joe Manchin backed independent is already polling at 10% because the voters don’t like either candidate that much. If Bohannan can’t find an identity beyond lame Democrat MMM could drive her unfavorables up just enough to hang on again by a slim margin.

New post: I looked at how Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Democrat Christina Bohannan are talking about health care in ads and other messages. (#IA01 is one of the most competitive House races. First @bohannaniowa.bsky.social TV ad dropped today.) www.bleedingheartland.com/2026/08/04/h...

Rob Sand has been saying for awhile that Republicans will definitely control the legislature next year when he’s governor. Here the legislative Democrats concede that they aren’t even trying to win a majority in either chamber.

Most socialist proposal from this year‘s Iowa Legislative session. Tax the carbon from ethanol production so all Iowans directly benefit from our natural resources, similar to oil producing states.

Rob Sand on taxes, great question from @LauraRBelin on the looming disaster of a constitutional amendment on the ballot this November. Sand says he hasn’t read it, but he has thought about and released plans for both tax increases in some cases and credits in others.

Candidates and it’s basically season 1 of Heroes except about a cross section of random relatable people/stereotypes who stumble into running for office all at once instead of superpowers
