June 15 1934 Universal releases "Wax Works" starring #Oswaldtheluckyrabbit. Animation by Manuel Moreno, George Grandpre, Lester Kline, Verne Harding, Fred Kopietz, & Victor McLeo. This is one of the better Lantz Oswalds; it features some of the famous Universal Monsters, like The Mummy.
"Artic Antics" animated by Burt Gillet was supposed to be by #UbIwerks, but he left prior to the film being started. Scenes of the singing walrus & the applauding seals are lifted from Wild Waves, a Mickey Mouse short 1929, which took scenes directly from the #oswaldtheluckyrabbit "All Wet" in 1927

The Dumb Cluck was a character introduced in the 1937 #oswaldtheluckyrabbit "Keeper of the Lions." Invented by animation legend Charles Bowers, it was meant to be a major new character- but he never worked. He appeared in about half a dozen Oswalds between 1937 and 1938. #walterlantz #charlesbowers

In 1935, Walt Disney sent Universal's Carl Laemmle a letter with this illustration, showing Disney had no hard feelings about losing Oswald - Disney got Micky Mouse instead- a pretty good deal. By 1935, whatever Disney felt had clearly been forgotten- he referred to Oswald as "a rabbit I once drew"
