New book coming from @boydellandbrewer.bsky.social , ed. by @marcusmeer.bsky.social and me: a starry international cast of contributors exploring image-breaking in medieval politics and society (as well as religion) - a big, neglected topic with much to tell us. boydellandbrewer.com/book/iconocl...

Carlo Ginzburg has just passed away. There is little I can add in memory of a scholar of his stature. I'll recall only what he said during a fortunate conversation at the Betty Behrens Seminar in Cambridge: “Read everything. Your research path will find its way". And I live by that advice.
It's not just #MedievalMonday – we've got a whole week of #MedievalHistory ahead of us! Tomorrow, Maximilian Schuh will continue our series on environmental history with a talk on 'Demesne Accounts, Court Rolls, and Prognostic Treatises: Weather and Its Perceptions in Fourteenth-Century England'.
It was a great pleasure to meet the speakers and commentators last Friday. Thanks again to the GHIL‘s team for making it happen. I am looking forward to the next Medieval Germany Workshop in 2028 already!
#Throwback to last Friday! Thanks for a wonderful workshop on medieval Germany! 🏰 It was inspiring to get insights into so many different projects — from nuns' letters and Hildegard of Bingen to accounting records and the artistic world of Nuremberg. 1/5

A very relatable sentiment for anyone who's finished a long piece of writing by prioress Anna von Buchwald at the end of her chronicle for the Preetz convent from c.1508:
How did medieval societies connect morality and economy? Tomorrow in KWIs' Colloquium, @marcusmeer.bsky.social examines how chronicles from cities, courts & monasteries constructed political economies, blending monetary consciousness with moral & institutional strategies. 💰 🫰 tinyurl.com/bwd32vzz
