As debates continue around digital identity and other emerging technologies, protecting the right to privacy must remain a priority. Any new proposals should include meaningful safeguards, transparency, accountability and public trust.

Digital ID raised legitimate concerns about privacy, surveillance and the collection and use of personal data. People were particularly worried about government tracking and how their information could be shared and protected.
