If you’re angling for a Ralph Rapson-designed church, one at 58th & Cedar can be yours for $2.49 million. [DHH, which did so much mutual aid work during the surge, is moving somewhere bigger in S Mpls tho story doesn’t say where.]

Headline: South Minneapolis church lists Cedar Avenue property for $2.49 million as it plans expansion. Picture of 1950s church with large squarish tower.

One thing that stands out in the redacted document is that a high ranking officer - presumably Axel Henry - was on board with ICE; saw immigration as a black-and-white issue. SPPD were of course collaborating with ICE, and Mayor Her did nothing to stop it.

Hadn’t clicked that Southwest Tire & Auto at 50th & Xerxes pointedly flies the old Minnesota flag. That’s their right, but also fuck off. (Note: All J’s Tire, right next door on the corner, does not. They don’t like their neighbors!)

A business front with an old Minnesota flag flying at right.

Pouring the new curb on Cecil Newman Lane that will connect the Blaisdell bike lane to the new 1st Avenue protected lane. This is just north of the Greenway looking east.

New curb and apron cemented. The street will be narrowed

You have to ask yourself why do you need The Star Tribune pretending they’re saying something relevant when you’ve heard it 100 times from folks to the left of you, but ignored it every time you heard it? Even though it was just as reasonable and prudent then as it is now.

It’s too late, but I appreciate Laura Yuen naming the media’s complicity about Omar Jamal. As I’ve long said, the biggest journalism corruption is source corruption (amplifying voices who voices spoon-feed you instead of using independent judgment) www.startribune.com/omar-jamal-m... (gift link)

Yuen: Omar Jamal fooled the media for years. We helped him do it.

Journalists have long treated Jamal as a trusted spokesman for Somali Minnesotans despite his reckless relationship with the truth.

My thoughts on last night’s BET levy-setting. Not the outcome I hoped for but very happy to have fully funded Parks and highlighted my concerns about MPD overspending and the City’s financial direction. That work will continue.

Another good piece. Was thinking this yesterday after the newser. Totally accept people’s skepticism — mine is primarily how long Tom Pohlad will stick to a higher payroll and of course how high it will be, but I’m reasonably convinced they’ll go up by multiple 10s of millions.

Twins fans have every reason to doubt the Pohlads. But Tom Pohlad has given me enough reason to believe this offseason could be different. #twins #minnesota #mntwins

The latest stop on “David the Jew’s Tour of Every Local Church“ for observer & democracy defense training was Mt. Olive at 31st/Chicago. It’s a landmark because it sits where 31st jogs a bit south at Chicago. Lovely people who wanted me to know they welcome any community meeting that needs space.
