I am extremely troubled by the amount of standby pay issued to MPD officers during Operation Metro Surge. MPD data shows some officers were paid nearly 24 hours per day for 32 days straight, while dozens were paid 8-12 extra hours each day while we stood out in the cold protecting our neighbors. 1/

bruh, you cannot, must not look away when they trying to sell you $31 million in police overtime (to an already bloated $230 million budget), sell you a "mysterious" $30 mil budget deficit and need for you to pony up more cash. You should be outraged. You should demand better.

It's amazing how the convo about public safety, the police never have to produce any evidence of efficacy, on any particular level, and folks who irrationally scream for more police, despite police lack of proving, those voices get elevated when we need a rational convo the most.
