I've been staying off social media a lot, because it's simply not healthy (physically, mentally, spiritually, you name it) to face this constant barrage of horrors so casually and constantly. From our politics to war to AI to sexual violence—I simply can't scroll all the time anymore.
Going to be speaking on this webinar panel tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to it!

One of the great privileges of my time at the AHA has been editing the obituaries we publish in #AHAPerspectives. It’s such a special genre of writing. So I’m greatly enjoying reading Are They Dead Yet? by Sam Roberts.
I have watched The Love Hypothesis movie. Missing a little of the sparkle of the book but a decent adaptation. 💕🧪

No matter how many times I receive one, those "you're a great editor!" emails from authors are always a treat.
It was a really fun evening! And now I gotta get back to the DAR Museum to check out the exhibits.
Behind the scenes at the DAR Museum! Last week, current and former AHA staff came out to support executive director Sarah Jones Weicksel at a talk for her new book, A Nation Unraveled: Clothing, Culture, and Violence in the American Civil War Era (UNC Press).
Breaking news: Leaving the house for a book talk and then dinner with friends is good, actually. Even if you gotta go downtown for it!
I hope folks understand that this is a reaction to the Ellipse, the Reflecting Pool, the East Wing, the fences, the barriers, the National Guard, and the general state of the city, as well as the Kennedy Center.

beyond bad faith part of what is happening here is that people who think this are basically incapable of thinking historically and see the political world as simply a set of actions and reactions.

On the way to the office today, I passed the spot on Columbia Island where Trump wants to put that absurd arch (between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery). There was a tiny protest of about 4–5 people there, standing up and speaking out against it. ✊🏻
Those outside the DC region may not realize what a cultural gem the Kennedy Center is. I've seen musicals, ballet, and orchestral concerts there. It's been devastating to see this longstanding institution become a political football and be dismantled due to one person's narcissism.
