I know we all know pitching stats are a mess, but you’re telling me Palmquist saw four hitters as an opener and ended up taking the L because he gave up the first of five runs and his team didn’t ever score? That’s messed up.
I have recently attended two movie screenings where the Phillies blew a lead as the movie progressed. THANK YOU TEAM FOR NOT DOING THIS TO ME AGAIN.

I have one last story from this weekend at Camden Yards. On Saturday’s game, the first hitter for the Orioles was Coby Mayo. He struck out swinging. The Phillies fan down the row from me yelled, “SIT DOWN, MUSTARD.” #creativity

I’m just going to tell you, I never anticipated becoming a person with strong and multiple opinions about the trade deadline.
Remarkable how similar the Phillies loss Friday was to their win last night. Unsung Painter/Alvarez performed really well, Kerkering/Cosgrove came in and, partly because of control problems, gave up runs in the seventh. 6-4 Friday (L), 6-3 last night (W). Starters good news for both losing teams.
Wait until you hear about public schools and people without kids.

By this point, I was following the game (closely, pitch by pitch) on my phone, and when I saw that he’d gotten a hit with the bases loaded (which is all it tells you at first—you know, with the blue dot?), I immediately thought, “I bet it was a home run.” Because he’s just … been that guy.

Sending Bryce Harper to the outfield is interesting, if that’s what they do. If you think (Arraez bat - best outfield bat they had a chance to get) > (defensive contributions of BABTHACTG - Harper defense in RF), then it makes sense. Much would depend on how much Bryce can really play outfield.
An interview like this is one issue; the other issue is that his little Apple movie with Keanu Reeves was *oozing* this same weirdly aggro, extremely unsettling energy, and it’s one of the reasons it was so bad.

This seems like a particularly weird move when they just (relatively speaking) built the Metro all the way out to Dulles. Don’t build 32,000 parking spaces *now*.

When I was really little, at Veterans Stadium, they used to fire off fireworks at the “rockets’ red glare” part of the national anthem, and it really scared me. And I don’t think I’d thought about it in decades until I saw them do it at Camden Yards this weekend.
