Reuben Wu @reubenwu.bsky.social "Many of my works are complicated, hard to do, and take months, if not years to plan and execute. That said, sometimes the most intriguing moments I experience on Earth are the ones I casually capture on my phone"
Today marks the 7th anniversary of one of the most epic moments in spaceflight history and my accidental photograph of it from a lonely mesa in Arizona: the maiden voyage of Falcon Heavy 🚀
The first high speed FPV drone light piece I’ve ever attempted, from sketch, to location scout to final image. Skilfully piloted by Matt from Override Films.
Travel photographer’s airport tip: Secure checked cases with zip ties. Deters casual theft, gives extra security, and you’ll know if someone’s opened them. Put different colour ones inside for customs to replace them if they decide to inspect. 👍
So proud to have collaborated with Coldplay on their new single 🌙 Moon Music which premieres today. The song inspired me to play the vocal melody as a dance of light in a peaceful and twilight world.
Here is some of the planning that goes into an image like this. Pencil sketching, marking up scouting images, and pinning GPS locations on satellite maps since I’m basically flying blind. I enjoy the process as much as the final outcome and I hope it shows in the work.
‘One Ring To Rule Them All’ My most ambitious pieces to date.
Monuments of Peril: a homage to Paul Virilio’s Bunker Archeology from about 2010. Kodak Aerochrome and Polaroid Type 100 film in a Mamiya RZ67
I’m drawn to images which feel more like dreams than reality. Full video coming soon 👀

When an ambient music legend praises your work 🤯
Incredible work from Reuben Wu, who creates light paintings in dramatic landscapes using drone-mounted lasers. This time the Lake Michigan shoreline features ephemeral, curtain-like structures. So magical!
Hi! Just a few days left to collect SILENT LIGHT print editions. THE BEACON (16x20" sold out), ASCENSION & SIREN #1 still available in limited numbers. Posting a link here, will it tank this post? 😂 reubenwu.xyz/pages/silent...
I adore this picture by @reubenwu.bsky.social — absolutely stellar! You can find more of his photography at www.instagram.com/reuben 🤩
Latest acquisition for my wall, a pretty stunning bit of drone lighting and long exposure from @reubenwu.bsky.social.
