On 25th April 1915, the troop ship SS River Clyde was deliberately run aground to allow the 2000 allied troops concealed within to disembark and attack V Beach, Cape Helles. Poor planning meant that this attack was carried out under heavy Turkish fire, and high numbers of casualties were sustained.

The magnificent dolmen angevin of La Roche aux Fées in Essé (Ille-et-Vilaine) is built from over 40 blocks of schist from 4km away. The 3 stones of the 3.5m long trilith portal entrance are smoothed beyond which is the 14x4m, 2m high chamber. #TombTuesday. Card by ELD c.1905.

Second race of the weekend - The General Sosabowski race - with British and Polish paras running! The event celebrates the close history of the 1st Independent Parachute Brigade, formed under General Stanislaw Sosabowski, with Fife. This year’s race was a 5km run along the beach.
