Ahmad Hassoun gets a life sentence in Syria. I would not argue this is not merited but still as I wrote before, Syria and Syrians deserve a comprehensive, fair, credible transitional justice system which these rushed trials are not www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/8/...

Funding illegal Israeli settlements is not charitable activity. It is extremist activity. Working with Israeli human researchers, I found at least 32 UK charities who have sent £28 million to settlements in recent years. There’s a likely taxpayer subsidy of at least £5 million through Gift Aid.

Discussions on going to war have become a circus - This is by far the most low-grade debate on any conflict Britain has engaged in over the last three decades. Even in the run up to the Iraq war in 2002-2003 the analysis and debate were of a higher calibre www.arabnews.com/node/2635806

Discussions on going to war have become a circus

Wrote this before Starmer's decision last night for Arab News but much still stands. In short, any serious strategist knows this war on Iran is a massive gamble, with no clear aims, of dubious legality, and led by people who cannot be trusted. arab.news/cafbw

Why the UK did not join the war on Iran?

The American-Israeli strikes on Iran have been widely compared to the 2003 war on Iraq. As ever, there are significant commonalities and major differences. Back in 2003, it was the UK under Tony Blair...
