None of these people in the comments have worked in a bookstore and it shows. Not to mention the 'writer' just completely not understanding why printed books are being used (compliance with copyright law) or why destructive scanning is used (compliance with copyright law) 404 is pure grievanceslop

The obvious solution is … nothing. Law journals are effectively obsolete as any other than an absurd credentialing metric & have been for a long time. We should just be publishing scholarship to the internet & then collectively evaluating it for quality.

Peer review does nothing to preclude bad scholarship. See the multiple replication crises, massive numbers of retracted papers, bogus peer reviewed journals & the parasitic commercial academic publishers they feed. Get your own house in order, buddy.
Michael Feinberg@michael-feinberg.bsky.social · last mo.That Thomas was able to refer to scholarship made up out of whole cloth by Wurman, Barnett, and a few others points to a stark failure in the construction of the legal academy; there’s no real peer review of which to speak, and the tenure system limits consequences for bad faith arguments.
Who cares? A text is just words in order. It doesn’t matter how they got that way. It matters what they say.
