Along with delivering the conference keynote, @kashhill.bsky.social will join @minzlicht.bsky.social, @tomcostello.bsky.social, and @anatperry.bsky.social on the panel “AI as social agent: Intimacy, empathy, and persuasion."

Interested in how and why people ascribe conscious to AI? Come work with @anatperry.bsky.social , Leon Deouell and me on this problem. Applications for postdoc positions are welcome!

Two years in the making with @dcameron.bsky.social and an incredible group of collaborators. Publication will take a bit more time, but we’re hoping for a 2026 book launch. Stay tuned for thought-provoking chapters on empathy and AI 🤖 🧠 🫀

As we launch into 2026, we are excited to announce a major milestone: my wonderful colleague @anatperry.bsky.social and I have just submitted our edited volume Empathy and Artificial Intelligence: Challenges, Advances, and Ethical Considerations to @universitypress.cambridge.org. 1/n

Loved working on this with you guys!

New review! We synthesized literature on empathic AI: AI-generated emotional support is rated higher than human responses, but people's knowledge of the source shapes their perceptions. W/ @desmond-ong.bsky.social @amit-goldenberg.bsky.social @anatperry.bsky.social osf.io/preprints/ps...

I’m excited to share that I'll be joining the Harvard Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study as a Fellow for the 2025–2026 academic year. @rad-institute.bsky.social 1/3

In the past year and a half, we have been intensively protesting and fighting the Israeli government in an attempt to stop the war, secure the release of all hostages, and prevent the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Until now, our protests have primarily been focused internally.

Even when AI gets it exactly right, people still prefer empathy they believe came from a human. A new study led by #HUJI Prof. @anatperry.bsky.social, in collaboration with @harvard.edu and @utaustin.bsky.social, shows the human touch still matters. Read more: neurosciencenews.com/ai-human-emp...

People Prefer Human Empathy, Even When AI Says the Same Thing - Neuroscience News

A new study shows that people rate empathic responses as more supportive and emotionally satisfying when they believe they come from a human—even if the same response is AI-generated.

Check out @michalehmann.bsky.social ‘s new paper on intellectual humility and empathy! And thank you Michal for introducing me to the important and relevant field of intellectual humility research

Michal Lehmann@michalehmann.bsky.social · 2y ago

Intellectual humility allows us to better understand others’ emotions and care for them without becoming overwhelmed. This holds true for both ingroup and outgroup members, as we found in the complex relational context of Israel—among Jewish and Arab Israelis.

I'm preparing a new graduate seminar on #AI and psychology, mostly on #empathy but probably also other related fields. What are the most important papers you've read on these topics? If you are teaching something similar, please share any thoughts / syllabus 🙏🏼

If you're interested in the intersect between psychology, neuroscience and linguistics, make sure to check out @maya_inbar's and @ayeletlandau.bsky.social latest preprint. I've had the privilege to work with her on a previous project, and it was a delight!

Excited to inaugurate my bluesky presence with this exciting preprint! Lead by the one and only Maya Inbar and together w Eitan Grossman we investigated temporal structure of prosodic units in over forty languages. Check out what we found! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

New here, thanks to @nivreggev.bsky.social ! Hope it becomes fun and interesting.

The Social & Affective Neuroscience Society is happy to be here on Bluesky! Please follow for content highlighting the exciting work and brilliant people that make up this great organization.
