(He/him) Film writer type, bylines at Daily Grindhouse, Neon Splatter, and others; vegetarian, expert on the films of Larry Cohen, former (maybe future) cat herder, library lifer, cancer survivor, Chicagoan. All opinions mine.

Wound up my ride at a bar/pizza place watching the Cubs. Dude came in and sat down about 15 minutes ago, opened a laptop, took out his phone, and has been taking proxy bets for people on sports betting sites while also doing (apparently legal) liquor sales. Hustle culture is stupid.

I actively detest cringe humor. Like, I literally get angry at it. So Nathan Fielder has clearly never been my cup of tea. But good dog, that Holmes doc might actually be a work of genius...or it could be more of his insufferable schtick, just with a more deserving target. Color me intrigued.

BRAND NEW LATE! Every week I explore a theme with an hour of human-curated (by me!) music & readings. This week I'm thinking about Labor, I'll read from Eugene V. Debs, tell you about my wacky work history, play the Linda Lindas, DEVO, Paris Paloma, XTC, and more www.mixcloud.com/KOPN/late-wt...

Late w/Taffeta V - Labor by KOPN

This one's all about work - I'll read from Eugene V. Debs on the labor movement, tell you about my own unconventional career path, and play music from the Linda Lindas, DEVO, Paris Paloma, PJ Harvey, ...

The older I get, the more I find myself home Saturday nights and I really enjoy just getting stuff done while listening to DJ Yang on Chirp Radio. She just did her ten year anniversary show and...10 years, man? The calendar just keeps flipping over faster and faster.

Watched BUFFET INFINITY tonight. For the first two acts, it's really fascinating, bordering on great, but it couldn't stick the landing. Still, well worth watching if you have ninety minutes and you're hankering for some pretty bleak, caustic satire.

It’s one of those days outside where it seems like a pleasant temp in the mid-70s and a nice breeze, but then you ride your bike one mile and you’re so soaked with sweat you look like just got out of the shower. You’d think a Midwesterner my age wouldn’t be tricked by humidity, but here we are.

You guys, Kiley is one of the very few purely positive people I've ever met through social media. She's a great writer and she's constantly lifting others up. She could use a hand. Please help if you're able. Even if it's just sharing the GoFundMe. Thanks!

I’m raising funds for @sanshinsoba.bsky.social. She’s an amazing woman dealing with some serious illnesses and costs for treatment. Please give if you can! Sharing the GoFundMe is also great and any/all support is greatly appreciated. gofund.me/c7229e9b5

Ever stumble across a forgettable straight to VHS horror movie from the '80s on a streaming service, say "Oh yeah, I remember that one from the video store, but it was always checked out, and then the owner of the store said it was stolen, and I always regretted not watching it"? 1/2

This is gonna be kind of a long thread. I've been puttering around the apartment this evening taking care of odds and ends and mulling over the Bruce Campbell news. When he announced earlier this year that his cancer was treatable, but not curable, I've anticipated some sort of news like this. 1/?
