Tomorrow is the last day to file for a special election replacing McConnell in Kentucky, so I expect sometime after Five o' clock tomorrow night he might suddenly pass away due to complications from a fall he suffered some weeks back.

Year 23 of The Blues House Party starts tonight at 7 on @wfyi.bsky.social and wfyi.org, at 6 on WBAA 101.3 FM and wbaa.org plus 89.1 FM and lakeshorepublicmedia.org and at 9 on WBAA 101.3 HD-3. Oh, this is my co-worker Brylee Stubbs. When she heard BHP is 23, she said “That’s my age.”

When it’s humid like it is today, heavy & muggy, I think about all those years I spent in the bookstore, and the way covers of paperbacks on the tables near the door would curl up in the damp, like slow motion films of flowers blooming, each one making the C-shape of The Great Wave off Kanagawa

"You're an old man yelling at clouds," they say, about my distrust of GenAI, but they are wrong. I'm the old man who lives in a cabin on top of a mountain who is the only person who still remembers how to do a thing, and commands a very high price.

In today's rousing game of Can You Guess the Theme for This Episode of Late? Your clues are: - features of Hefner's midwest vs LA mansions - parts of a midcentury short story that became a film - music from Florence + the Machine, Sly & the Family Stone, Morphine, Superchunk, and more

I spend a probably unreasonable time imagining my leitmotif. I really WANT to be the kind of cute breezy girl who gets the "There She Goes" needle drop, but honestly it's probably just gonna be O Fortuna from the Carmina Burana, or maybe that Baby Elephant Walk thing by Mancini. Goddammit.

Ai is awful for a million reasons, some of the smallest/saddest are that I’ve been robbed of awe, of delight. Because now when I see something awe-inspiring from the natural world, before I swoon & smile, I think ugh, is this Ai? This is probably Ai. And instead of feeling happy, I’m wary. Skeptical

Francis Dolarhyde had a job and was a home owner with a flair for interior design, he had great fashion sense, and could spontaneously plan a date to pet an anesthetized tiger. Hear me out…

Doing a short reading from Alice In Wonderland for the Bugs episode, but reimagining the Caterpillar as a contemporary character - flat affect, vape-hitting, vocal-fry kinda thing
