It’s good to know the history. Iran had an elected president who the US got removed from office in 1953 and replaced with a fascist autocrat more amenable to US interests. Then the Ayatollah came along around 1980 and the fascist was replaced. The Iranians have not forgotten the US-imposed dictator.
