April marks second chance month -- a time to acknowlege the barriers faced by so many people who have paid their debt to society. In Cleveland we've tried to remove some of those barriers through fair hiring programs and marijuana expungement.

Wishing a meaningful celebration to everyone celebrating Passover this week.
Eid Mubarack to all who are ending their fasts. May we find peace & unity during these dark times.
I am proud to endorse Judge William Vodrey in the May primary. He is working to reduce racial and socioeconomic disparities in our justice system because it isn’t just good policy, it’s a moral imperative. Join me and vote for Judge Vodrey April 7- May 5.
Sixty-one years ago, a group of courageous men and women crossed a bridge in Selma, Alabama to make the promise of our nation real. Today, we remember that day as “Bloody Sunday.” Few can speak more eloquently about the events of that day than President Obama did 11 years ago.
Crime is down because mayors, police, community leaders, and fed partners are working in tandem. And that cooperation needs to continue happening no matter who is in the White House. #SOTU
As we wrap up #OhioLovesTransitWeek, it’s STILL people over cars. That’s why I’ve appointed riders to the RTA board & prioritized projects that make it safer & more convenient for people to use public transit. Check out our Cleveland Moves Plan.⬇️ storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/4627...
Stephanie Tubbs Jones broke through glass ceilings in Ohio: becoming the state's first Black woman elected to Congress in 1998 & first Black woman county prosecutor in 1991. She's remembered for her personal warmth, sharp mind, & abiding commitment to hometown. RIP Congresswoman.
Have a blessed Ramadan! I wish all who are observing a meaningful fast.
Rev. Jesse Jackson inspired generations to fight for justice, dignity, and opportunity. May his legacy remind us that faith isn’t passive. It calls us to act, to serve, and to keep building a more perfect union.
This #PresidentsDay, I’m thinking about how fortunate I was to observe a future president up close. Nearly 20 years ago, I interned for then U.S. Senator Barack Obama. He gave me advice I’ll carry with me forever: “You should aim to do something… not just be anything.”
In his 102 years, Robert P. Madison has seen a lot. He fought racism to get into Case’s architecture school & founded Ohio’s first Black-owned architecture firm. His iconic work ranges from the Great Lakes Science Center to the U.S. Embassy in Senegal. #BlackHistoryMonth
From showing up for our scholars at CMSD to giving back to our kids year after year, Darius Garland has always led with heart. Wishing you nothing but success in LA. Cleveland will always be home, my brother. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Without the ability to move about freely, we don't have freedom at all. That is why desegregating public transit was one of the most important strategies of the Civil Rights Movement; and why we recognize February 4, Rosa Park's birthday, as Transit Equity Day.
As we start #BlackHistoryMonth, I’m thinking about one of Cleveland’s most famous sons, Jesse Owens. His performance at the 1936 Olympics in Germany offered a stunning rebuke to white supremacy – reminding us that simply showing up can be a great act of resistance.
Mayor Frey said today that what's happening in his city isn't a Minneapolis problem, it's an American problem. As Americans we all have a responsibility to speak truth to power and defend our freedoms.
We stand by our residents and with the people of Minneapolis.
Last Thursday was supposed to start with a second-term ceremony. Instead, Cleveland got a snowstorm. And honestly — that felt right. Leadership isn’t about the stage. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and delivering for our people when it counts. justinbibb.substack.com/p/our-govern...

Today, I’m reflecting on Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1967 address to students at Glenville High School. As we gear up for the 2026 midterms, his words are prescient. Together we have the power to protect our freedoms and shape our destiny.
Being the mayor of my hometown has been the greatest honor of my life. My first term taught me a lot—about listening, leadership, and getting things right for Cleveland. I shared four lessons that are shaping what comes next. substack.com/@justinbibb/...

As 2025 ends, so does my first term serving the city I love. I’m reflecting on the trust, the challenges, and the four lessons that continue to shape how I lead Cleveland.

Nothing like Christmas in the Land! I hope it's magical, Cleveland.
This is why we created the Residents First program, so the city can step in & turn problem properties into places that provide quality, affordable housing that anchors neighborhoods. We know Cleveland best, so we need Fannie Mae to step aside. www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-n...
Cleveland tries to stop auction of 14 troubled apartment buildings near Shaker Square
Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb is urging Fannie Mae not to sell a foreclosure judgment to the highest bidder next month. The city wants the properties transferred to nonprofits or a local developer.

The portal is the fruit of more than a year of work updating a building permit system that a 2024 study called “lengthy and unpredictable.”

On the first night of Hanukkah, innocent lives were taken in an antisemitic attack in Australia. To Cleveland’s Jewish community—your pain is felt here. We stand with you. We choose light over hate. Always.
In Cleveland, we stepped up with “A Home for Every Neighbor” to help unhoused people maintain a stable home - but we need the federal government to do its part, too. Congress cannot let HUD leave people out in the cold while so many struggle to afford the basics. www.usmayors.org/2025/12/10/n...

I'm also frustrated with the city's antiquated permitting process, but change is coming. Tomorrow, we launch Cleveland’s new Permit Portal — a more transparent, user-friendly navigation system that finally brings us into the modern era. www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/...
Grateful to all the champions who had a vision for this project and saw it through. In just a few short years, seniors and families will benefit from 112 units of affordable housing in a one-of-a-kind building that honors the neighborhood’s past. www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-n...
