Our work on the mechanoresponsiveness of actin is out! While plant microtubules have been extensively studied for their role in mechanobiology, actin has very much been ignored. Here we show that actin responds to cellular deformations within minutes and observed it in Marchantia and Arabidopsis!

Last week I stumbled on a study to ferns in storm drains in 2007. I contacted the author and now I am revisiting the hotspots. Today I found the same species on the same locations as 20 years ago. This is remarkable as spores are unlikely to escape the drains, making this mini-ecosystem very fragile

We revisited the evolution of plant actins (last paper was in 1999), with the aim to understand why plants have many actin isoforms and how these isoforms can be functionally different. Strikingly, unlike e.g. the auxin response factors, actins are completely segregated per taxonomic lineage. (1/n)
