Hardly the best views of the Bittern at Barnes today... but was pleased to spot it from the Wildside Hide when it finally emerged around 3pm. My 100th bird for the year, and my 200th species for London. Shame my camera battery died an hour earlier! #londonbirds

Yesterday, trained, tubed and biked it over to Fairlop Waters CP, where a long walk in the damp gloom brought 53sp including 27 Golden Plover, Lapwings, Fieldfare, Redwing, Firecrest, Kestrel, Chiffchaff, 2 Cetti's Warblers, singing Song Thrush, Linnet, Water Rail - and a Muntjac on the island!
