It’s important to understand that when 1.2 million Americans are dying from a disease, any government action is excessive and tyrannical, but if a dozen trans women want to play soccer no government action can go far enough

Finally saw THE ODYSSEY yesterday, which ate up a lot of writing time. Still got 768 words done. Not terrible. DAY 5: 768 words TOTAL: 5922 words
So I guess all the cool kids are talking about the Bronze Age Collapse now? FINALLY!
I think the original post got deleted so I cropped out the name, but I've thought about this one for a while lol
It's a sad sign of the times that Wonder Man, which was really fun, quite lovely, AND earned its lead an Emmy nomination (deservedly), has been unrenewed. Even if there were sound business reasons for this, Jesus, what does a show gotta do to get multiple seasons in the current tv hellscape?
Marvel's Wonder Man TV series has been canceled and will not return for its planned second season. https://bit.ly/4fE07Nv
I just finished the first edit on Book 5 on my sci-fi series TERMINUS! Books 1-3 are already published on Amazon.
Day 4: 991 words. Close enough. Total: 5154 words. #NovelWriting
Last week I started a new novel. I wrote several hundred words, thought long and hard about the story, found it wanting and set it aside. The next day I started a different one, wrote a thousand words or so, and it felt pretty good. So... I guess I'm gonna write another novel? It's been a while.
Family values party murders father in front of 3-year-old child. So... Monday.
This is Joan Sebastian Guerrero, the 26-year-old Colombian father and husband murdered by ICE fascists in broad daylight in front of his 3-year-old daughter. He was NOT the target of the ICE warrant. He was documented. He did everything right. ICE murdered him anyway. And yet… 1/2
"Turning our attention away from the devils, we now found ourselves among glittering people. Slowly, ever so slowly, they walked, step by step, around that bolgia, weeping, worn out by fatigue."
I’m not saying desensitizing Mochi to fireworks by showing him loops of Reykjavik New Year’s Eve when he was a pup was the smartest thing we’ve ever done, but it’s up there.
Credit where credit is due, that USAF guitarist shredded.
The goal is a more perfect union. Always more perfect. Perfection isn’t possible, but we can work toward it. That work has run into big setbacks of late, but here’s to getting it back on track. Anyway, Happy 250th, USA. May we have happier and better to come.
It's hot as hell in Philadelphia! Someone ought to open up a window. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze9i...

We wanted to know how regular Americans feel about the country’s 250th birthday. So we talked to three South African neo-Nazi billionaires at a ketamine bar on Market Street
I'm disappointed about the bloated orange shadow tainting the 4th of July, but I'm old enough to remember that the Bicentennial, coming post-Watergate in a terrible economy, also sucked. The massive fireworks display in San Francisco was completely fogged out. The Freedom Train was cool though.
Reading the Bible for a thing. Read these verses for the first time in ages (DAN 23-25): “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a fierce-looking king, a master of intrigue, will arise. He will become very strong, but not by his own power..."
There's a line in one of the episodes where Dukat says, "I did what I did to make Cardassia strong again." I mentioned how prophetic it was and wondered how the writers managed to nail that, and @roberthewittwolfe.bsky.social responded with "These assholes all say the same shit."
Just re-watched a Deep Space 9 episode where it was obvious Gul Dukat was occupied more with his petty personal bullshit and what people thought of him than winning a war and, well, let's say it resonated.
Way back when, when all the writers I knew were chasing features, I shifted into TV writing. When my friends asked why, I always had a two-word answer: "Air dates." I miss those days. @okbjgm.bsky.social explains what we've lost.
Streamers aren't tied to the deadlines of a primetime network schedule. Maybe that's not a good thing For this week's newsletter, I talk with screenwriter and producer @okbjgm.bsky.social about how that's shaped the TV landscape
So after all that, all the deaths, all the blood and treasure... is there any appreciable difference between the new deal with Iran and the one Obama got 12 years ago? Genuinely curious.
Oh, Los Angeles! Where, when you see a couple arguing passionately in the local park, you have to wonder... is that real? Or are they rehearsing for tomorrow's work? #showbiz
I've been thinking I'd really love to teach a 16 credit coordinated class - possibly multi-quarter - called "Just Blame Reagan". The material is just so rich.
