I write about baseball. Lookout Landing alum. 2021 SABR Award Finalist. I read a lot of old newspapers. Can solve a Rubik’s Cube. She/Her. Aries ☀️ Aquarius 🌙 Cancer ⬆️ Tacoman Newsletter on all things PNW baseball history: https://www.nwbaseballhistory.com

I know everyone is really mad at Dan Wilson and calling for his head and all that, but have you thought about how fucking miserable this must be for him? He knows he's bad at this. He knows the situation. He knows he's getting the ax when the season is over. What a miserable job he has to do.

We have longer soccer practices this year, which I thought would be great for writing time. But there are parents on this team that I like talking to. Choosing socialization over writing. I don’t know who I am anymore.

I enjoy seeing girls soccer teams practicing because they’re out there doing all their super serious soccer drills and then, while they’re waiting around, they’re doing cartwheels and handstands. Boy teams just do boy things, which mostly seems to be talking about butts?

Oh nothing, just going down a rabbit hole about purse distribution in horse racing. Because I wanted to use the phase “finishing out of the money” to describe my fantasy baseball season, and wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy that 4th place got a cut, and I wasn’t, that’s why.

Between the longest weekend and school starting, I feel like I exist in world with no meaningful time, but I actually still exist in the normal world, so I’ve spent all day being paranoid that I’ll forget we have soccer practice tonight.

I love how businesses are completely uninterested in doing the thing their business is supposed to do to make money. The local pharmacy, for instance, has absolutely no interest in filling prescriptions. Just none at all. Nice capitalism you got there.

My goal this fall is to find a good non-alcoholic pumpkin beer. My favorite regular pumpkin beers were the ones from Eysian Brewing, especially the Punkuccino. I miss that one so much. There don't seem to be a ton of N/A options out there, so I might just have to try them all.

It’s the last non-school night of the summer and all the kids on our block are outside running amok. I remember those nights from my childhood and I cant help but think how cool it is to get to watch it and remember what it was like all over again.

One more desk to put together and one more furniture to move upstairs, and then the annoying parts of this project are done! Other the broken down cube organizers piled up in the dining room that need to go to the dump. I'm so tired of moving furniture I might cry with happiness when it's done!

Apple Cup day is as good an excuse to make an apple crisp as any. Even though I don’t feel like apples are really in season yet? Some are, some are good at the end of August, but the good apples are still doing their thing on trees. But who can argue with the logic of college sports capitalism?

This massive house project that involved doing up the kids’ rooms and moving stuff all over, I realized yesterday that all the hardest parts are done (other than shelves I still need to hang) and it could all be mostly done this weekend?!

In positive news today, I finally removed the most stripped screw I’ve ever encountered in my life (I did not do it!). I was about to give up, but I persisted. Life lesson there about and stripping and screwing I guess 😂

The saga of trying to get medication for school continues. JFC. It should not take this much work to get a fucking epi-pen. I just want my kid to not die if he accidentally consumes a tiny, microscopic piece of peanut. But that is not a value shared by our healthcare system, which really sucks!

I thought for sure the traffic would be horrendous tonight, but it’s been fine. Putting me in a much better mood for this Friday obligation that I’m sure I’ll enjoy, it’s just hard to get excited for things that involve driving on the freeway on Friday night, ya know.

Painting trim takes so much longer than painting walls. But it’s worth it! 10 year old’s room is finally done and looks really great. I think I’m immune to the smell of paint fumes though because I thought the smell had cleared out and she scrunched up her nose and told me it is still “pungent.”

I have decided that since the publishing industry doesn’t care what I think or want since I’m not a TikToker sharing dumb opinions about books, I have to get over the fact that everything is written in present tense these days if I want to enjoy books. So. I will simply get over it. Poof. Over. It.

I love the internet because while I sit here trying to do some graphic design (that I am not qualified to do at all!) I can just mutter to myself, “Graphic design is my passion” and it soothes the panic a little 😂
