i think the executive orders directing agencies to end energy efficiency regulations and open up more land to drilling and mining is so indicative of the character of the american right — in its view everything, whether people or our larger environment, is something to be exploited and dominated
Literally none of this is surprising for people who took Trump at his word. But now we’re in this situation because enough people were convinced to “take him seriously but not literally”
Our institutions are comically ill-equipped for handling the moment in which we find ourselves. And it will only get worse before it gets better
