Wikipedia says the last "credible sighting" of this dude was in 2000 so I'm happy to say he is still very much around. He is called a Pawi bird.
Baby leatherback turtles hatching, then being captured for safe release a few hours later.
I would read 5,000 words on how Google literally invented transformers and fumbled that opportunity so spectacularly.

The weird thing about boarding a flight for Trinidad is how incredibly familiar everybody looks. I don't know any of these people specifically, but they all look like home.
I think you should be able to filter games in the App Store by which ones are portrait mode and which ones require you to tilt your phone. I never want to tilt my phone.
It is the ultimate fate of every musician that the song that made your career, where you poured a once in a lifetime heartbreak into beautiful words that sear the soul, will ultimately become a vaguely irritating component of the background noise at an airport.
The fact of the matter is that moderate dems are center-right at best. "Progressive" or "extreme" leftists are literally the only actual leftists available to vote for.

I knew RFK was sending healthcare backwards but I still wasn't expecting to hear of a resurgence of leprosy. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/6013242-florida-leprosy-armadillos/

Whenever I take my phone out of "Do not disturb" mode I realize I am implicitly putting it into "Disturb me" mode and it troubles me.

Someone should tell Qwen to use their world-beating AI to make a blog that actually renders server-side. You can't even print it to PDF. I haven't seen such a broken website in a while. Not even proper permalinks! https://qwen.ai/blog?id=qwen3.8

We are going to spend the next 20 years discovering and dealing with the mental health effects of over-reliance on AI.
Strong vote of confidence in MCP's latest version from the guy who (inadvertently) declared it dead last year.
The new stateless MCP specification has rekindled my interest in MCP, and inspired some new projects, including mcp-explorer and datasette-mcp simonwillison.net/2026/Jul/31/...
Plot twist: the neighbors are *also* feeding the ravens. Now there are even more ravens and we are in a bidding war.
Definitely the weirdest reaction I've seen to OpenAI and Anthropic's agents getting loose and hacking things is "oh this is just a marketing stunt". Hugging Face had to be rescued by an open-weights Chinese model! They absolutely would not have set things up on purpose to unfold that way.
I think one question one should ask oneself before launching a feature like "generate fake satellite imagery" is "does this have any legitimate use-cases?" Everybody who approved this stupid feature should be fired. www.npr.org/2026/07/31/n...

This is Winston. He got out of his house without a collar and was wandering around my street. We took a brief adventure together to SF Animal Control where his chip was scanned and his frantic owner came and picked him up. Hooray!

OpenAI confirms that the model that hacked Hugging Face was not "GPT-6" (i.e., not a model planned for upcoming release). It was an "internal-only research prototype" never intended for public release - i.e., I assume, a checkpoint of another, even more powerful model.

it's always really funny when you meet someone you know from from online for the first time irl and they're like "wait you're actually like this" lol you think if I had the ability to fake a whole persona this is the one I'd have gone with
