Little practice doodles to get back into traditional drawing. Blackwings are fine, I dunno if I buy the hype versus Ticonderoga. Maybe a 602 will change my mind. An oblique nib holder on the other hand is a gamechanger and has completely changed my opinion of inking with dip pens.
If anyone wants a little experimental portrait doodle like this, hit me up. $10 for pencil, $15 for ink. I could use the practice and I wouldn't mind recouping some of the cost of buying a new sketchbook and supplies oops

Mount Shasta is ENORMOUS. I couldn't believe we were 30 minutes out from Portland and still in California
Well that's that. Stuff is on its way, cats are rehomed, last of the money changed hands. Nothing left to do but wait. In 24 hours and 20 minutes I will be touching down in Portland.
One thing that does make me excited about finding a more practical job with a livable wage once I get up to Portland is being able to start lowering the prices on my commissions again. It's just more fun when the stakes aren't so high.
Down payment for the moving company has been made, flight's been booked, all that's left to do is sign the lease and I'll be on my way. Move came to $4310, flight came to $448, and deposit on the apartment is $1000. Job search is still ongoing so anything to offset the costs is a huge boon.

OH, I WAS SO EXCITED I FORGOT TO UPDATE HERE I got approved for an apartment yesterday and will be signing the paperwork by the end of the week. 🎉 Flight's booked. August 1st, I leave California as a resident for the last time. o7

I've got 29 days to find a place to live. I'm looking for jobs and apartments in Portland. Financially I'm in a little better place, but a roommate would go a long way to stretch that budget until I can get established.

My budget's $900 for at least 4 months while I find work.

It's not terrible (provided they don't hit traffic) but it's still a chunk out of the budget I'd rather not have to make if I can find a place up north before my move out date.
