Just saw a Reddit thread in which people were discussing being old and I haven't stopped laughing at this one comment: "So, recently our 21 year old (252 months) asked us what number we called in an emergency before September 11th happened 🤦🏽‍♂️ "

"Rath asked the court to release an additional $776,469 to cover $350,000 in legal fees and $426,469 in living expenses." "[The judge] found ... his financial disclosures were 'incomplete and unreliable' leaving her unable to determine whether he had other funds available to cover his expenses."

You can't book COVID & flu vaccines for kids under 12 online in Alberta. You have to call 811. Last year it took me weeks of calling to get through. The system would say it was too busy and just hang up on you. This year's bookings opened today & I'm currently on hold. It says 15 minute wait 🤞

The University of Calgary launched its new Electricity Centre this morning. It will be a place where researchers, policymakers & the public can intersect on the increasingly important issues surrounding our power grid, generation, distribution & emissions. Expect to hear more soon!

University of Calgary Electricity Centre directors Blake Shaffer and Sara Hastings-Simon speak at the centre's launch event.

Question for anyone who files Access to Information (ATIP) requests online in Canada... Have you ever successfully used the new "CanadaLogin" system? I did the steps to create/migrate my account but every time I actually try to login to the ATIP portal it just ends up in this endless error loop:

        CanadaLogin

    Manage CanadaLogin

Something went wrong

Sorry about that. Try one of the following options:

A recent post in the Banff subreddit caused a stir with an image of a rock that appeared to have people's names scrawled across it on Devil's Thumb above Lake Louise. Based on the names the replies devolved into anti-South-Asian racism. Some replies also suggested the image was AI-generated... 🧵

An image of a rock posted on Reddit with South-Asian-sounding names scrawled in large, block, black lettering.

"There is a strong Alberta identity and an equally strong Canadian one. There is deep skepticism about Ottawa but very little appetite to accept the risks of leaving Canada. And perhaps most importantly, there is widespread belief that whatever happens on Oct. 19, the argument is not going away."

Alberta Isn’t Leaving Canada. That Doesn’t Mean the Federation Is Fine.

Five reports and 1,000 interviews reveal a province that is deeply frustrated, still strongly Canadian, and heading toward a referendum result that almost nobody expects will end the argument.

When I worked at CBC we used Google: Docs, Sheets, Meet, Drive, etc. As an independent consultant I'm now using Microsoft more often: Sharepoint, Teams, etc. Is it me, or are the MS tools so buggy? Seems like a constant stream of slow loading, incorrect authentication or things just breaking. 😑

NEW: Corb Lund has penned a letter to Premier Smith, calling for an immediate coal moratorium, claiming that former Elections Alberta staff have raised serious questions about the validation process of his petition.
