Thank you to everyone who came to our vigil for Prof Jason Arday yesterday in Edinburgh. Jason himself said that if he could change the world, he would take a needle and thread, and weave love back in to our society. That is his legacy, and we pledge to carry it forward. Our co-founder Sara El-Awaisi attended the opening of the Scottish Parliament today, nominated as a local hero for her leadership across many areas, including the establishment of Educators for Peace. It was great to meet the newly elected Scottish Greens and we are grateful for their allyship.

NASUWT condemns the racist violence and disorder seen this week in Northern Ireland as well as parts of Scotland Our solidarity is with those communities targeted and with teachers across Scotland who are supporting children and young people impacted by this violence and intimidation. There is no place for racism, hate or violence in our communities and our political leaders must be unequivocal in condemning both those who physically attack racially minoritised communities and those who fuel the violence with poisonous rhetoric.
